Mother Goose Treasury: A Beautiful Collection of Favorite Nursery Rhymes for Children (Hardcover Storybook Treasury)

This definitely brought back memories from my own childhood when reading this book! It has a ton of rhymes that I often forgot I knew until I read them, so I'm excited to be able to read or sing them to my daughter and now create memories for her. There are a ton of different rhymes and fun illustrations included in this book so it's a great addition to any nursery, and even makes for a cute baby shower gift. I'm excited to use it, and it will be a great resource if my daughter is crying and needs a song or rhyme to help calm her down.

This book has wonderful illustrations that bring the rhymes to life. The drawings are cute and engaging. It's definitely a gift worth giving or receiving. We actually purchased this for an adult with memory issues. There's a lot they cannot recall, but were able to recite these rhymes once we started them. They loved the illustrations, too, finding lots of detail to explore and take in.

I am a late-life grandmother. I thought the book would have a link to the tunes associated with the rhymes where possible, that's why I'm giving it 4 stars. Good illustrations. Language used in the book is the same as the language I grew up with, meaning it is the same as it was when I was first born (and no doubt much older than even that). The "Pussy" kerfuffle is interesting in that the terms Puss or Pussy always referenced a cat and nothing else at the time this rhyme was first published. And for decades that's what people thought of when they heard that naughty Pussy was on the table. Times change, and kitties morph into unmentionables in some minds. I do recommend the book, particularly if you want to take a walk down memory lane. There are a lot of dated ideas in this book, such as "What are little boys made of?" But, that's why you buy this book, to relive your memories of childhood.
