Wahoo! A good cure for road rage!
Crazy Taxi is a very fun take on the typical driving-type game. Fairly easy to control, fairly simple to master, this game is fun, fun, fun! You choose one of four taxi-driver characters and start picking passengers up and delivering them to their destinations. Don't worry if other cars are in your way, just bump into them, or better yet, launch yourself off a ramp to get ahead of them (or, if you think it might get you there quicker, try driving underwater or over grass). The punk sound track adds to the frenetic race to get people where they want to go in a San Francisco-like environment complete with recognizable retail stores (Levi-Strauss, Tower Records, KFC... hmm, product placement?).Crazy Taxi includes several play modes that have different rules, depending on which you choose. There is also a training/practice mode that is quite challenging.Parents of young kids: some of the passengers are verbally abusive if you don't get them where they want to go, and some cursing can be heard.

I LOVE THIS GAME!
For those who have never played this game, you're missing out. It's quite fun to drive off a cliff and to have your patron screaming at you while "All I want" by The Offspring playing in the background. It's a great arcade game that allows you to kill 3-10 mins (since this is how long the arcade mode is) And you're sure to lose plenty of time to this game striving to get your taxi license to an A (not as easy as it sounds). There's not a real plot, but being able to just do whatever in that span of time you're given is quite a joy for me. :D It's definitely a game that you should at least try for a good laugh, if not to own.

Time to make some crazy money!
The concept is ridiculous but a lot of fun! The crazy box is full of mini games to help you get better at the game. The driver's stats are different so it does matter who you pick even though it doesn't show that. I would have rated it higher but the saving takes so long that have to save after a few playthroughs. This game is why you went to an arcade to play something crazy! Get it and have some fun! Here we go! Ya ya ya ya ya!! RECOMMENDED.

The arcade version was fun. This is not.
The first arcade version of Crazy Taxi, with its instantly recognizable music and appearance, was an amazingly popular game. Its concept was simple yet irresistible -- to create a driving game where you don't have to worry about crashes, and where your goal shifts all the time so that it's the equivalent of 30, 40 racing courses. I was a devotee of this game and had spent hours on it.This PlayStation 2 version lost most of the magic in the translation. For one thing, inevitably, the controls are just not the same without the steering wheel, pedals, and the all-important gear shift, without which (and without knowing the "boost" move) you could never hope to pick up more than five, six passengers before your time runs out. The PS2 version, grievously, sped up the game clock so much that the game just blitzes by. It took me a long time to figure out how fast you have to execute the boost to make it work, and even then, finesse of control flew right out the window. So the game became what it always threatened to become, a frantic, overly speedy experience fit to give you a heart attack, so fast that there's very little fun factor, just rushing to meet all the times without getting to enjoy anything. So many games these days are about "beating the clock", probably reflective of our ADD-infested culture. Street Fighter became another flashy, graphics-ridden button masher; Syphon Filter now forces you to run through levels ignoring enemies just to meet their insane "par times", and Crazy Taxi requires the reflexes of a cockroach. Maybe I'm from an older game culture where you don't have to be on speed to compete. At any rate, this game was a sore disappointment. But I know I'll jump onto the next classic Crazy Taxi on my next trip to the arcades and hope it's still there.

Definitely crazy!
Only Sega could come up with something as crazy and fun as this. My sister, mother, nieces and nephews all loved it and had a blast playing it. Plenty of laughs.

Timely
I only give this a three because it wasn't compatible with my Play station. I think it's because I have the newer kind. The product was delivered in a timely manner though and I was able to return it for free.
