HORRIBLE REDITION! BUY A DIFFERENT ONE!
If you've seen the many reviews of Star Trek toys and models I've written please listen carefully. This is the 1st incarnation of the Enterprise-E and it's terrible. The accuracy of the ship is barely 50%. It's completely devoid of color and detail and the lights and sfx are laughable at best. Yes it's the 1st one to be released and yes it's rare but if you're a serious Trek Guru like me buy the Diamond Select / Art Asylum version from the Nemesis movie. I cannot stress this enough!!

Based on Early Production Sketches for First Contact Film
The Enterprise-E debuted in Star Trek: First Contact back in 1996. When the story was developing, the Enterprise was going to have a "stealth" mode, a sort of cloaking device and it was going to go up against several Borg ships - at least that's what the early draft of the film read. The story along with the ship got re-worked but Playmates was given the preliminary sketch of the ship and had to work of that and the early production notes (hence the "cloaking", pulse phasers, and alert sounds). The toy was "fixed" when the Star Trek: Insurrection line went into production and fixed the impulse engines and warp nacelles but still kept the overall shape from the First Contact version. If you're a collector, this version is a no-brainer - you'll own a piece of Trek history. If you're looking for something that is screen accurate, you're better off going with an AMT model kit or Diamond Select version.Happy Collecting!
