It works but doesn't seem as substantial as it looks in the Amazon photos
I ordered this because it looks good in the photos and looks like there might be some prospect of repairing it if anything goes wrong with it (which is inevitable with headphone cables). Sounds fine. I never noticed much difference from one cable to the next unless they were so bad they picked up interference or something. None of that with this one but there was none of it with my last one, either (and it was a different brand). The part where the Mini-XLR connector plugs into the headphones feels suspect. It doesn't have a nice click when you push it in. You have to move it back and forth a bit before it locks into place with the click. The 3.5mm plug is made entirely of plastic (except for the plug part itself) and the metal part is just screwed onto it. As near as I can tell, this whole thing is pretty much for looks as it is just a normal looking plug when you unscrew it and there would be no way to replace the plug without cutting the wires. The only functional aspect of it is the spring on it for strain relief. Which is nice. On the other end when you unscrew it, there is some evidence you might be able to do something with the wires but it doesn't look like it would be very easy (probably better just to replace the cable at that point. I gave durability 3 stars based upon expected durability. I have been through 3 cables with these AKG K240 headphones since 2014. And even the cable they came with (which was not great quality) felt way more substantial than this thing does. It's also pretty short, which I guess would be a plus for portable use but is kind of a pain when you're sitting at a computer. It'll get me by but I foresee buying yet another cable for these things in the not too distant future.

Works great, especially for a laptop.
This works great! Much lighter and more controllable than the coiled OEM cable. Metal components and strain relief are a nice feature. Plugs in solidly into headset.I would have given this 5 Stars if the headphone plug that the metal strain relief screws onto was not plastic. This is exactly the cord I wanted, and would have a paid a few dollars more and happily given it 5 stars. So...if the manufacturer is reading this....In general, headphones that will use this type of cord are not cheap, so you can probably figure it's a market driver by features and quality, not saving a couple bucks. Not regrets in buying, but if they make one with a metal plug, I'd buy it!

Good Value and durability for the price
This cable works well and the form factor is good. It feels strong and has already survived multiple yanks without a hint of wear. I'll give it a few years before I give a full durability review but already this cable is 5 stars in my view. Good value, fits well, feels good to the touch, made of pretty good materials for the price and should last a while.I have sensitive ears too and while cables aren't the most impactful, this one is high enough quality not to impede my experience at all, I didn't notice any sound quality difference between this and the OEM cable on some AKG K240sEdit: After about a year, the cable began to wear, so keep this in mind if you purchase it. The fabric braiding on the cable can only stand up to so much abuse and the cable will eventually weaken. If you need something tougher, consider a metal braided cable.

Great value for the price
Ordered this as a replacement for a cable for my AKG M220 headphones. The great thing about headphones with a replacable cable is that instead of having to purchase a whole new set of cans I can just replace the cable. This cable is pretty short, which is my preference as I do not need a lot of slack at all. I like that the cord comes out at a 90 degree angle to the input, it doesn't get caught on any of my gear, and doesn't bend in a way that might wear quickly. Great product for the price.

Vastly superior construction to any cables of this type i've bought before for the money
If you need to replace a cable on your AKG headphones, this is the one to get. Every other cable in its price range lacks such basic features as a strain relief on both ends that dramatically diminish their longevity. Additionally, the mini-XLR end of this cable is designed to enable repair which means that even when it finally does die all you have to do is screw it open and repair the connections.
