Cheap CCTV recorders are more trouble than they are worth.
First unit was dead on arrival. Returned for a replacement and the replacement unit reboots 2-3 times a day at random times. Seller should update the graphic to remove the remote as neither unit came with one. IOS and Android apps both have bugs. You get what you pay for. Update as of April 16th 2019, the replacement unit is now dead. Complete waste of money.

It's.. Actually.. Pretty good
This review is strictly for the dvr box.If you have been looking for a solid dvr box that you can video remotely at an instance, this is your best bet.I had a night owl dvr but the fan broke. This box doesn't have a fan. Just thought I'd mention that. The user interface is simple/straightword but in a good way. Makes it easier to navigate. Alarm works good. Set up was too easy. (Night owl AHD 720) cameras work flawlessly.But it's only been a day.So will update after a few weeks.

The machine comes very often, and the picture shows the remote control that was not included with the shipment, if there is a control please send it at this time, I have to have one.

Motion alert is fantastic
The motion alert is adjustable in intensity and zones within each camera. I blocked flying insects near a light and keep the sensitivity on medium on camera1, my front door. It sends a video to phone when triggered . The back door is set so it ignores the dog door but alerts above it.

It does not work
It comes on displays welcome screen then goes to a black screen and nothing it does not work

great dvr
I bought a 16ch unit for the house and I liked it so much that I bought this 8 ch dvr for my shop.This box replaces a 10 year old night owl box. Very easy to make the switch.I'm not a huge fan of the cloud, but I think all the cheap new units are like that now. No issues, it works.I can use xmeye on my smart phone and see both my house and my shop.it works very well.

Great deal and surprising system
I was looking for a cheap surveillance system with 8 cameras and found this Canavis dvr hybrid. Biggest surprise all of my from different maker cameras was detected without doing any programing in an flash setup. Since than the system is working charming. One question about my lost manual got answered the same day and thay sent me the link to download it. I do 100% recommend Canavis.
