The Star Qualities: How to sparkle with confidence in all aspects of your life

Will help improve one's chances in life
Whenever I read a book, I like to make notes of quotes or sentences or paragraphs that I find particularly interesting, relevant, useful or inspiring. ‘The Star Qualities’ is causing me a bit of a problem as there's something noting down on every page.As it contains interviews and advice primarily from actors, it could be misconstrued to be a book aimed at drama students, but I'd say it's far more wide-reaching than that – I'd recommend it to anyone looking to improve themselves for both social and career purposes. This kind of stuff should be being taught in school and so this should be on the reading list for any parent who wants to give their child a head start in life.

A warm and genuine book that is incredibly helpful in bringing out your star qualitiies
In a world of short attention spans and sound-bite communications being able to stand out from the crowd and create a positive impression quickly is increasingly important. Over the years both for my area of work and for my own self development I have slogged through many prescriptive, 12 step, repeat after me type books on impact and image, networking, creating a USP, releasing the power within etc . I stumbled on Caroline's book 'The Star Qualities' by chance and I loved it. It's straightforward, well thought through, refreshingly honest which makes the stories and advice all the more insightful and powerful. It has brilliant chapter summaries to remind and reinforce the key messages (called your toolkit). The whole stance is about finding the best version of yourself and turning up the star qualities. If ever there was a book to inspire, motivate and enthuse this is it. I heartily recommend this book.

This is a super book, packed with advice on becoming great in social situations. There is so much to take from the acting profession into everyday life, and so much is elemental – how we breathe, how we find energy when we need it. I loved the advice on embracing your imperfections to gain confidence, on speaking your mind, and also on the analysis of the Greek roots of charisma and gravitas. It’s also a great insight into the craft of acting, with references from Stanislavsky and advice from well-known teachers and actors. Reading about ‘emotion memory’ was fascinating.

Not as expected
Didn't keep much of my attention. It felt a little superficial.

Awe inspiring!
This book is life changing! It shares the intimate thoughts and feelings of A-list, highly successful actors about presenting and speaking in public. However it goes beyond that to give practical advice on how to deal with many significant areas of life including building successful relationships and living the life that you desire and deserve. Like Stephen Covey's 7 habits of Highly Successful People Caroline Goyder gives us an insight into the minds of these amazing people so that we can learn how to be the best that we can. I absolutely loved this book.

don't judge based on the cover - a gem
The book cover belies the advice within. It looks light and fluffy but it is packed full of practical and useful advice. This is not a lightweight read and the publishers should re-jacket as it looks too cutesy and fluffy. A good book to keep and refer to.
