Blackmagic Design ATEM Television Studio HD Live Production Switcher with Hosa Power Cord (3 ft)

We have been using the Atem TV studio HD to switch cameras Live and livestream. It has some great features but unfortunately Blackmagic has eliminated a couple small but very important things which make it a challenge. First of all, it’s very picky about the camera resolution. I was only able to get our cameras to work at 1080p 59.9 even though they will shoot at just about any resolution. This makes it impossible to actually record your live switch without purchasing a very expensive recorder that will operate at this resolution through sdi. Our local news station was not able to acquire the signal via sdi, so we missed out on good coverage. Next, BM no longer allows the switcher to be recorded via usb to your computer, why. The only way I was able to record my mix is at a highly compressed codec through my external streaming equipment. Lastly, there is no hdmi program out. There is hdmi muliscreen out for controlling cameras. If you want any output at all, it has to be SDI. None of the major streaming devices use SDI so you are stuck converting sdi to hdmi. Most converters won’t read 1080 59p. The blackmagic ultrastudio mini recorder will not read the signal coming from the Atem sdi. So our results were bad. No hi res recording, highly compressed streaming. Why can’t they make a product smarter, able to recognize HD SDI signals from a pro camera other than 1080 59p. Why did they eliminate the hdmi out, such a simple and cheap option, which was included on the last version, so many pro devices need that. Why can we no longer get video through usb?I like Blackmagic, I own three of their cameras and some other gear. This was just a poorly designed product. Too bad it could’ve been great.This product was a major disappointment. If you want to buy a ton of extra adapters, conversion boxes, etc.. just to get what should’ve been included on board. If you want to be stressed about the thing seeing your cameras, than that is what you will get. It cost us time and money and I will be returning this piece of equipment.

my biggest complaint about this is the analog input has 200ms of latency and doesn't follow the FTB so you can black out your show but the audio will still flow through which can be a problem. also you cannot tie the analog audio input to a video source, the audio stays totally independent of any input association so be ready to embed the audio before it reaches this switcher to maintain sync and FTB unison.

I didn't receive the power cord with the unit, but the unit works great. Need to understand that all inputs must be the same format and output will match input format. No up/down scaling. Software is nice compliment to the unit.

Envio Rapido muy buen producto, llego sin problemas, el único problema es cuando se realiza la compra desde chile es que el operador logístico nacional no es muy rapido y no entrega información rápidamente, con algunos envíos me pasa que se van de vuelta a la capital, tengo que nuevamente hacer el seguimiento y llamar para ver donde esta y que paso. Pero en general todo excelente con esta compra

Ive been using it on multi camera projects to drive content on screens. Works great and you can do picture in picture effects with this. Dont even need a laptop to setup or control but definitely adds expanded features to it

Solid switcher. Make sure ALL the inputs are the same resolution and frame rate.

Great little switcher. Hard to find anything else at this quality and feature set.Don’t get me wrong it’s still Blackmagic so it has some quirks. Probably the most annoying of them all is getting the firmware of the unit and the software control app to match.

I didn't have a good experience with this switcher, the program out never gave a signal out after trying 2 separate units. Tech support was awesome but just didn't work for me. I went with the roland v 1-hd.
