Wild Elk American 550 4 Mm Parachute Cord

I'm 63, and over the years since my early teens, I'd really hate to try and guess how much paracord I've bought and used in locations all over the world. I can confidently say that the Wild Elk product is by far and away the best that I've come across. There may be better, but I've not come across such. It is now the only cord that I buy and use whether in the garden at home or while out and about in woods, ranges and mountains. I always have about 20 metres in my rucksack, and another 20 in my Jeep - together of course with a roll of duct tape and wire:) I've used it in shelter building, to make replacement bootlaces and for other general lashing duties. I can't praise it enough. I tend to the conservative Coyote brown, (although it is rather more an olive colour), but you can't go wrong whatever colour you choose.

I've bought loads of sting/rope from different sources. This is simply, hands down, the best para cord I've ever bought by a country mile. If you're into rope/knot work, this is nice rope to handle as well as being strong. This 4mm cord is a good size if you are making up utility stuff like dog leashes or tying down loads.I bought the black and white fleck version which is really nice but will be buying more of this product.

There are various grades of paracord, all with different breaking strains - Type I, IA, II, IIA, III and IV, with a *minimum* breaking strength ranging from approximately 43 to 340 kg (Type I and Type IV respectively).This "Wild Elk" paracord is the second highest rating - type III (the seller claims a breaking strain in excess of 250kg).At the same time, I bought Web-Tex 100m Roll of 3mm Para Cord - Olive Green (also see 100m Paracord on Reel) for situations where I do not need a high breaking strength. It costs half the price per metre but has a far lower breaking strain (a *maximum* of 70kg according to the seller as opposed to Wild Elk's advertised *minimum* of 250kg) - this cheaper alternative appears to be Type I or Type IA. Beware the word "maximum" - I can imagine people weighing 60kg thinking it is safe to be suspended by it.By buying both, I don't waste this premium paracord on light duty needs.I have found paracord very useful for those jobs in the house that just crop up, as well as for bushcraft. Within two weeks of buying it on a whim, I suddenly found I needed some cord for a job in the house.You may be interested to know that there is a reflective version of this paracord although only in black, orange & brown: 550 Paracord Type III Commercial 7 Strand 100ft Black Reflective,550 Paracord Type III Commercial 7 Strand 100ft Orange Reflective and 550 Paracord Type III Commercial 7 Strand 100ft OD Reflective. To see what the reflective version looks like at night, there is a photo of it on the black reflective version (see the link above) - at the time of writing it is the second photo.Incidentally, despite its breaking strain, you should not use this for climbing or similar purposes. For example, one little nick in it and its breaking strain will be reduced.Great product.

Excellent cord, used as shoelaces for my work boots that have rather sharp metal eyelets. Got through loads of decent boot laces which start snapping after a month or so but this stuff is ideal and no signs of damage since fitted to my boots that i have now been wearing for around two months.Still no signs of wear since writing review, now Oct 19. Cant believe I never found this before to use as boot laces.

All things bright & beautiful in paracord seems to have a wild elk on it. You pay for what you getGreat quality paracord.(& at risk of repeating ourselves word for word, as this is on another wild elk paracord review by ourselves)I could wax lyrical about this, But all you need to know is that it is made in the USA by military contractors who know their product should be a "lifesaver" if put to the test.Needless to say, when looking over the multitude of sellers: if it looks like it is a chinese seller, or seems a bit "iffy" with regards to "style" then don't chance your money on it.The real stuff is head & shoulders above the look-alikes sold here & on ebay in terms of outer sheath & inner core.I'm happy to recommend "wild elk" products, they are solid paracord you can put to use (as intended) ..worth the extra cost outlay, we purchased some cheap stuff from elsewhere just to make a comparison, ..it would not have asted a week on the wrist & fibres were pulling out from the word go!Get it right first time round ...get "Wild Elk" (seller) paracord.

I'd never purchased this type of cord before so have nothing with which to compare. It looks to be absolutely fine to me and the quality seems A1. I bought it to replace some 40 year old drawstring cords on anoutdoor folding frame mechanism. Probably completely over the top as the three lengths I've cut and fitted would, if combined, in theory support 5 x 20 stone men hanging from them! No wonder people plait this stuff up into belts and brocelets for survival purposes. It's strong enough to be useful in all kinds of circumstances.Anyway, it does the job I needed it for perfectly. When you cut the cord, the sheath and inner cords tend to fray and so a quick lick with a naked flame will burn off excess strands seal the ends and make a neater job. I suspect this stuff will last another 40 years or more but I'm certainly not going to be worrying about it by then.

An meinem alten, gebraucht gekauften Armeezelt waren die Leinen zu kurz, mehrfach geflickt - kurzum: Schrott.Weil ich noch Reste von Paracord hatte und dies vom Durchmesser durch die Ösen geführt werden konnte, habe ich mir einfach das gut sichtbare "Neon Yellow" Paracord bei "Wild Elk" bestellt. Der Preis für 30 Meter ist - meiner Meinung nach - unschlagbar. Bisher hatte ich bei einem anderen Anbieter gekauft. Dort waren für ca. 12 Euro nur 5 Meter zu bekommen.Das Material ist - wie ich schon in einer anderen Rezension zum "Digital Multi" Paracord geschrieben habe - meiner Meinung nach sehr gut. Es ist dem teurer verkauften Material des anderen Anbieters jedenfalls mindestens ebenbürtig.Ich bin zufrieden. Mal sehen was ich aus den Resten der 30 Meter noch so flechten kann. Als Schlüsselanhänger hat es sich schon vor einiger Zeit bewährt gemacht: Neon Gelb findet man einfach leichter wieder. ;)

Nur ein Stern Abzug, weil das Paracord leider nicht wie ~suggeriert~ der Mil Spec MIL-C-5040H Type-III entspricht.Der Kern besteht wie vorgeschrieben aus 7 Strängen.Die Stränge sollten nach Spec aus je 3 Fäden verdrillt sein..hier wurden nur 2 Fäden verarbeitet.Ob dies die 550 Pound Traglast beeinträchtigt kann ich nicht beurteilen.Dies ist aber für Survival Anwendungen, wie Tarp abspannen..etc., nicht relevant.Paracord ist schließlich kein Kletterseil.

Vorweg, mit Wild Elk habe ich wohl meinen Standardlieferanten gefunden. 4 Tage Versandzeit aus UK, US-made Paracord und die Farben sind klasse. Das Coyote habe ich mit dem Coyote meines Tactical Tailor Modular Operator Pack und den ITW Nexus Web Dominator verglichen - passt perfekt.Davor hatte ich mal Sandfarbenes bestellt, Welches Kein bisschen geglänzt hat. Leider ist das wohl nicht mehr erhältlich.

Es gibt zwar billigere Paracords, aber das schlägt sich auch in der Qualität nieder. Hier beim Original wird man kaum das Problem haben, daß die Außenhülle schnell durchgescheuert ist, und auch die Enden lassen sich problemlos mit einem Feuerzeug sauber verschweißen, so daß nichts ausfranst.Und die Farbkombination hier ist auch wirklich klasse - das Bild wird dem nicht wirklich gerecht. Man bekommt eine Paracord, die bei jedem Hintergrund gut sichtbar ist - oder auch dekorativ, wenn man darauf Wert legt.

Paracord macht einen qualitativ hochwertigen Eindruck u. hat wie vom Händler angegeben 7 Kernfäden.Habe Reißfestigkeit nicht getestet, da nur für Lanyards verwendet.Die Farbe neon-türkis eignet sich hervorragend für Fangschnüre, Lanyards u.dgl., da sie sehr auffällig ist u. sich z.B. aus der Hosentasche gefallene Gegenstände leichter wiederfinden lassen.

Ich habe dieses Paracord hauptsächlich wegen der schönen Farbe gekauft, bin aber auch mit dem Material sehr zufrieden.Im Vergleich zu billigerem Paracord finde ich den Mantel schön fein in der Struktur und angenehm weich im Griff, was bei Verwendung für Handschlaufen und Griffumwickelungen im Alltag praktischer ist.

Nach langem Probieren mit verschiedenen Lieferanten bin ich auf Paracord von Wild Elk gestossen. Im Gegensatz zu anderen Produkten ist dieses Material viel stabiler und "fülliger", die Oberfläche deutlich abriebfester. Ab jetzt meine erste Wahl für alle Arbeiten!Kleiner Tip: Dieses Paracord läuft bei Wasserkontakt ganz leicht ein. Entweder mit Übermaß arbeiten oder einfach das Seil vor der Verarbeitung in warmem Wasser waschen. Dies ist keine Einschränkung, denn die Qualität ist wirklich Spitze!

Band hat uns nur in der Farbe enttäuscht. Entspricht nicht der Abbildung und ist nicht strahlend blau. Qualität sehr gut. Leider nicht dünner verfügbar.

Mit diesem paracord kann man super arbeiten und basteln! Ich fertige daraus Armbänder und Halsbändezr an und meine Hunde schauen super damit aus, das liegt daran, das die Farben super aussehen und toll strahlen!

Artikel wie beschrieben. Zugfestigkeit 250kg konnte ich nicht testen. Optisch schön und keine Fehler im Seil entdeckt. Habe auch billigeres 550 Paracord bei einem anderem Anbieter bestellt welches optisch auch einwandfrei war jedoch ist dieses hier viel geschmeidiger. Kaufempfehlung. Versandzeit in Ordnung. Ca. 1 Woche.

Ist identisch mit militärischer Fallschirmschnur. Riecht auch so und fühlt sich so an. Top Qualität. Würde ich wieder kaufen. Ja.
