I got this because I feared under-cooking meat, so I tended to overcook it. This meat thermometer helps me to hit just the right temp. The pre-printed recommended cooking temps for each kind of meat is very helpful, so I don't have to remember or print a cheat-sheet for myself (combo of being 50 years old & having too many responsibilities in life to remember stuff like this right now). The magnetization is a nice feature, and maybe it will stay on a future fridge. But the weight of it & the strength of the magnetization doesn't work with my current fridge which is metal ... the thermometer slides down to the bottom!). But it doesn't take up much room in my gadget drawer anyway. It's easy to use, easy to clean & easy to read. A winner.

Totally satisfied with this Latow Instant Read Thermometer. I've actually used this thermometer more than I thought I would. You can quickly check the internal temps of not only meats but sauces, water, oil, etc. The backlight comes on as soon as you open it, there's virtually zero delay, as soon as you insert the probe, it reads the temp. Works quickly for those times you need to make a quick check with the oven door open.

Use it for my steaks and chicken.

The digital thermometer is very easy to use. It only utilizes power from the battery when the prob is flipped open from the closed folding position which is great for saving battery-life. It also include a built in bottle opener and proper meat cook temperatures labeled close to the digital readout.

This unit is worthless as it only worked one time. The second time I went to use it, it wouldn’t even power up. I put in a fresh battery and it still won’t power up. Junk.And no, it was not submerged in water. I have several of these and know how to use and clean them. This one wasn’t as quick to read as my other ones but it does have a bottle opener, so there’s that. Also, the magnet is too weak to hold itself up.

This is definitely a great bang for the buck. I like the design a lot. It's got everything that I was looking for in a food thermometer. I like the temperature chart for different types of meat a lot. It's a very handy reference.Another thing I like a lot is the bottle opener which can also be used for hanging on the hook. It's fast and responsive. And waterproof so I don't need to worry about rinsing it with water after use.It has the max temperature hold functionality and has backlit button. Very nice. 5 star for sure.

Worked great a couple times then died.

Love it! It works as described and has prevented us over cooking our steaks, chicken thighs, and chicken breasts that tend to be very dry if overcooked. The only thing that did not work as described was the magnet that was supposed to hold it up when put on a refrigerator or other metal surface. The weight of the thermometer is too much for the strength of the magnet. Needless to say, we have to keep it in a drawer. Pretty darn good for the price!
