harmless fun
light entertainment. einstein and his gaggle of charming (all german) genius physicist buddies all devote all of their time to fixing up einstein's niece with a man of their choosing. she is a brilliant mathematician and he is a garage mechanic but that is beside the point. it is all in good fun, with stephen fry portraying her hapless fiancee who you can tell is evil because of the devilish experiments in his lab. all the actors are capable of much more, but this light fare gives them a chance to test out their comical chops. if you accept this film for what it is, you will enjoy it.

Such a great, romantic movie!
I don't know why but there are just so few movies like this anymore. Hollywood seems to be obsessed with gruesome and brutal violent scenes, or satanic horror flicks, and finding ways to push the envelope of good taste. This movie is well done and in good taste.

One of my favorites
Love the music, really a lift and the way they zeroed in with the camera on these old fellas shoes tickles meevery time I see it. Music that is cute being played while they do this. There a bit of humor all during thismovie that is delightful! I don't care for the crazy man segment, but I just ignore that and enjoy rest ofthis funny movie. It's exceptionally done!

unique story
I loved the mix of a sweet love story and the portrayal of the Einstein character. My Mother went to college in Princeton at the same time Einstein lived there. The character portrayed by Matthau seem similar to what myMother remember from stories about him at that time, in the 20s and 30s. Great ending too. You can't go wrong with Tim Robbins, Walter Matthau, and Meg Ryan,; iconic actors whose careers span the last 40-50 years as a group.

So Cute and Fun
This is one my favorite movies that I can watch over and over again. When I think of it, I think so cute so fun. Walter Matthau, Meg Ryan, and Tim Robbins lead an interesting cast of characters. This movie is where blue collar and academia meet in the cutest way and where fate/soulmates are pressed together in a fun steady stroll. Thinking about it makes me smile.Watch Tim chase and Meg sidestep and Walter and his cohorts join in!

A Definite Favorite - Romantic Comedy
This is one of my favorite movies. Its a bit older but that doesn't matter as it is set in or around the late 50s. Meg Ryan , Tim Robbins and Walter Martha play awesome rolls. As Albert Einstein (Matthau), his Niece and a mechanic (Robbins). Love at first site for Robbins and Ryan doesn't want anything to do with him because he is ONLY a mechanic. Love know no bounds. But will it survive?A fun movie.

Charming, feel good movie - you should watch it.
This was a very charming movie. I enjoyed it completely. The wittiness of the different characters, it was just brilliant. I love the generation difference and the relationship between the Uncle and the young man trying to date the niece. Seriously, this is a wonderful movie. How the young man pretends to be something he's not with the help of the old men is so adorable, but you can also see that he really is intelligent. I highly recommend this one. It really is a feel good movie that will keep you smiling from beginning to end.

Intellect or feelings
I enjoyed the plot that Einstein would match-make for his niece based on feelings and not intellect, especially knowing the real man's life story. The best scene was still the old men trying to get stuck items out of the tree by throwing more items up at them while arguing different theories.

Good Fun - Especially Walter Matthau and Stephen Fry
First off a few words about the DVD I.Q. Liebe ist Relativ which I purchased. The cover notes are in German. The DVD is a Region 2 disc and will play on standard UK/European devices. The film will play English without foreign subtitles. It also has dubbed audio tracks in German, French, Italian and Spanish. Optional subtitles are available in English and various other languages. The DVD menu is in English. The film itself is an offbeat romcom set in New Jersey in the 1950s. It stars Meg Ryan, sporting Doris Day outfits along with her usual 90s hair cut, as Catherine, a young scientist and the niece of Albert Einstein (played by the inimitable Walter Matthau). Catherine is set to get married to an uptight English psychology professor brilliantly portrayed by a young Stephen Fry. When the young mechanic Edward (Tim Robbins) falls in love with her at first sight, things become complicated. Uncle Einstein and his scientist cronies are determined to help the smitten Edward win Catherine's heart. To achieve this, a grand deception is staged. Edward has to pose as a brilliant scientist in front of Catherine and the entire academic world. Hilarity ensues. It's not Meg Ryan's best film, but it's a bit of good fun. A nice bit of entertainment for a rainy afternoon. Worth watching for Matthau's performance as Einstein, dropping various well known quotes of the great man and having great fun with the eccentricities of his character. I also enjoyed Stephen Fry enormously in this. He is a hoot as the pompous English scientist.

Brilliant. Why no blu-ray release?
This is a very underrated little rom-com with an excellent cast and a fun premise. It's worth it just for Walter Matthau enjoying himself as Einstein-plays-Cupid, but the rest of the cast do a great job also. The HD masters have existed for years on broadcast and streaming services, but sadly no blu-ray release yet.

Very good. Saw this film years ago on TV but ...
Very good. Saw this film years ago on TV but think I started watching it after it had started. Have been hankering after it for a long time but it just disappeared off the radar. Have been doing a series of film watching based on certain actors/actresses and introducing children to films I like so this came into that category. A really enjoyable, funny little film.
