Better option than low volume cymbals
These are awesome! I was tired of trying to use the foam cymbal covers for quiet practice, and came across these, honestly thinking they were a bit gimmicky at first. I didn’t wanna have to outfit my kit with quiet cymbals, and be out a ton of dough, so I decided to try one, and ended up outfitting my entire kit with them. The installation takes a little patience the first time you do it, but once they maintain their folded shape, the go on and off with ease. The thing I find most impressive is how they manage to dampen so well, while still allowing the cymbal to breathe and vibrate, giving it a completely natural feel. Of course any sort of damping adds “weight” to your cymbal, but I’d venture to say these feel like a perfect compromise between naked cymbals and the Roland v pads. For reference, I’m using (4) of these at the moment, (2) on Meinl Byzance chinas, and (2) on Meinl Byzance crashes (medium and medium thin). On all of them I’ve had no issues with feel or pad slipping. For those reviewers who claim that they just “fly off” I will caution you to exercise some patience in the first day or two. If you don’t allow these to stretch and form, then much like any elastic, it will be trying to work against you. I’ve found that the best thing to do is apply the mute, and then rotate the cymbal in my hands slowly, pressing to crease around the whole product, and leaving overnight. The following day I played them lightly to watch for any parts that seemed trigger happy on slipping, and re-shaped if needed. By the third day, these things could come on and off with no problem, and don’t budge while playing (death metal to be exact, so not exactly friendly tapping)Hope this helps some others while deciding, cymbomutes definitely changed my outlook on quiet kit setups.

Fits crashes, splashes, hihat, won't stay on china cymbal.
Changes cymbal sound to a dull thunk. Significant volume reduction. Initial fitting is like putting a onesie on a reluctant toddler. Fits on standard profile crashes. Could not get cymbomute to stay on my 18" china and returned it for refund.

By far the best. I've tried other dampeners and nothing is as simple, clean and effective at killing the sound and enabling me to practice like a banshee without causing a revolt among my neighbors. Reasonably priced and last a long time if you take care of them.

Make your cymbals useless
They don’t mute the cymbal so much as render them completely useless. It totally kills the sound to the point of being funny.

Full mute, but a pain to put/keep on.
These are a full mute, which works ok. The issue I have is that they are a total pain to put on and keep on. I bought another product that just sits on top of the symbol and accomplishes the same thing with none of the frustration.

follow instructions when installing
works great. tricky to get them on the cymbals, an extra pair of hands wouldnt hurt. following the instructions helps.

Incredible sound deadening - retaining 90% of feel
I've messed around with various ways to mute cymbals recently. From buying large mouse-mats and taping them to the cymbals (annoying) to wrapping insulating foam tunes around them (this works - but the tape joining both ends would pop apart, and the diameter of the cymbals increased by a good few centimeters, making it quite cumbersome)As I'm spending a lot of time at home right now, I wanted a better solution. With a total of 9 cymbals, it was either these dampeners (a total of £100 across various sizes) or closer to £800 on low volume cymbals. I opted for these. And I'm so glad I did. I was worried there would be a loud, annoying thunk every time I hit the cymbal - and although there is a 'Thunk' - it's not loud or annoying. And as I'm playing with headphones on anyway, it really isn't an issue. And the noise from outside is more than bearable. Much better than if I left the cymbals to blare out full volume!Although I've given them 5 stars - the one thing I'd say is to be patient fitting them. If you're frustrated, you'll end up in a really bad mood! They are a tad fiddly - popping off when trying to get them to stay on while getting the entire strap around the cymbal. And for some reason, I have to put them on upside down on some of the cymbals, or they pop off when played (maybe the manufacturer could advise?)But once you get them on - the 5 minutes you spent doing to is well worth it. It's the closest I've come to feeling like I'm playing naturally on my kit. And when combined with the VicFirth mute pads - and a Gibraltar kick pad - it's going to keep me happy in the upcoming months!(Again, the manufacturer should really look at a drum mute solution too - why cater only for cymbals?

The media could not be loaded.
