Stuck in cd player
It sounded good for a few songs and then it got jammed in the cd player and I can't get it out. Total bummer, my guess is because it came from a library and has a security ring on it. I don't know but my cd player is un useable for now : (

Lindemann Ventures Out Solo: It's About Time!
It was sheer curiosity that got me to look into this new project by Till Lindemann. Till without any attachment to that behemoth entity known as Rammstein? What would it be like? As a follower (although, not recently) of the Behemoth Band myself, I have often wondered what Mr. Frontman would be like away from the Rammstein circus show. It was difficult to know how much of it was him as oppsed to the rest of the group (which does operate collectively). So when I received news about this first-time solo effort (actually it's a two-man team, featuring another hardcore rocker I have hitherto never heard of, Peter Taegtgren), I was compelled to look into ot further. Does the material sound Rammstein-ish? To a certain extent I would say that it does... but a lot of this is due to Lindemann's voice and how he expresses it, and some of it is his writing style. It seems that a lot of this 'dark material' is stuff floating around in his head; he digs it up, puts words to it and tries to make sense of the chaos. That said, this is NOT another Rammstein album, nor does Lindemann appear to be trying to just be an extension of that concept. This is a whole different animal - and much of this is because of Peter Taegtgren's presence and musical influence. While I wouldn't exactly call this new stuff earth-shattering, I CAN say that it's interesting because it's something different. There is a chemistry between Lindemann and Taegtgren, a communion of thought, an understanding; there's an honesty about the material that comes across after listening to it a few times. (This is not to say that listeners should take any of this literally; we should all know by now that blunt, gritty sarcasm is part of Lindemann's style). For very similar (or maybe for very different) reasons, these two came together and created this thing; and while it is a departure from what they both are better known for, it's a respectable, first-time-out venture for two rock icons that have deep roots in other bands. Whether this turns out to be a one-time fly-by-night or the first of a few more rounds can't be known - rumor has it that Mr. Lindemann will be meeting with the Behemoth Band and doing a new album with them. And don't get me wrong - that is his rightful place, that is what he built a career on and that is primarily what he is known for in the minds of most of his fans. But moving forward I hope The Behemoth will take a tip from Lindemann's collaboration with Taegtgren: Change can sometimes be good, and if you're going to do a record just to feed the corporate machine (which this LP doesn't do), it will show up when you go to present it to your audience. Hopefully this Lindemann/ Taegtgren duo will return at some point down the road... I like this new stuff, it's different and it's nice to see Till in a different environment every once in awhile. This album now has my official stamp of approval!

Rammstein in English? No. Not even close.
So far, my limited edition copy has not come yet. So this is just a review for the music, as it's all on youtube for free. And that's pretty much where you should stop reading and go listen to a few songs so you can decide for yourself.Personally, I hate this album. My wife tolerates it. Now, this is saying a lot, because my wife is in love with Till, and we are both uber fans of Rammstein. We go above and beyond pretty much every other fan we know. We both took to learning German, and know every word to every song, and exactly what they mean. I can with absolute confidence say this sounds nothing like Rammstein, and even less like Rammstein if you know what the heck you are talking about, (IE the actual poetry they put down on albums). My wife has even translated Till's poetry books, despite translated editions being available. She also took to writing her own poetry in German. That's the influence he's had.I have to give Till a bit of a break, since he speaks limited English and wrote the entire album in it, the lyrics come off as juvenile and asinine. For a man who usually writes from the heart, even when writing absurd songs like America, none of this really holds anything even remotely poetic. It's shock for shock's sake with a 4th grader's vocabulary. Now, I hate dubstep, and the dubstep influence is present in a few songs. It was heartbreaking to read him refer to his love of the music, and how he let it influence this album. But, that's my bias, so if you don't mind dubstep, and can ignore vulgarity for no reason, by all means. Go to youtube, hear Till sing "Cry- eye- eye, (it's nto actually eye, he's just making his own echo effect in what amounts to lazy songwriting, and just a completely out of place and craptastic place holder for a song about abortion), and promptly run right out to buy a Rammstein Cd to appease the need for Till's baritone awesomeness.I don't understand all these reviews saying it's Rammstein in English. Even if you only really know the greatest hits album you should know enough to not say fool hearted things like that. I'm pretty sure the other members of Rammstein, and Till would be offended at the notion. He tried to do something different with his freedom from the band. In my opinion he succeeded in a worse way than Emigrate. You pretty much have to be obsessed with Rammstein, or Till to think this is good, and that's what I'm getting from these reviews because almost none of them have anything legitimately critical to say, and the ones that do, no matter how helpful, get downvoted to hell. (Go ahead. Downvote me. All you're doing is proving how flawed the review process on here is. A review that literally says nothing more than 'I like this album' is somehow more helpful to you people than this review with actual helpful information. You see how it says was this review HELPFUL? Not, do you agree with this review? Or, do you like this review? HELPFUL. You don't think knowing all the songs are on youtube so people can check before they buy is helpful? A comparison between Rammsein Lyrics and Lindemann's? The sleeve issue with the book nobody else is going to mention? Proof is in the pudding guys. Thanks).I'm going to give this a 2, because my wife tolerates it. I recall her horror when Praise Abort was released. It has now grown on her a bit. To the point where she doesn't hate it, and that's about as good as it gets.Even when the poetry makes an attempt on songs like Yukon, it doesn't hold a candle to either of the artist's previous work. I'd go so far as to say Till's grunge band was still better than this. Maybe that's (partly) where the negativity stems from. I'm disappointed in both of them. I'm sad a chance to see Till prove his sand in English ended up on an album I can't even listen to in the car for fear of someone in the lane next to me thinking I'm an avid fan of abortions, drinking urine, etc. etc. A sampling of this lyrical geniusJust for funNo romanceTwo in oneI'll take my chanceAll you can eatIt's hot as coalsI drown my meat in dicks and holesNow, that's from Ladyboy, a song about obvious inspiration. And here is a sample from the Rammstein song Zwitter, which is german for Hermaphrodite.I go differently through the dayI am the most beautiful person of allI see marvelous thingsThat were not apparent to me beforeI can make myself happy everydayI can send myself rosesThere is no second and no thirdOne and one that is the sameThere is poetry in Zwitter. So how the heck can anyone say this is the same as Rammstein? It's not. This is almost like the weird al version of Rammstein. Stripped and silly. And before you get pissed, just remember how often you hear the word "boobs" on this album. (It's once. But isn't that enough?)I finally got my limited edition copy, and I have to say, the book is better than the album. That shouldn't be the case with a CD, but it is. And even though I wholeheartedly believe this is the case, it has it's flaws. When we got our copy, the cd was loose in the box the book comes in. It was loose because it doesn't hold the CD properly. I would have added a third star had the book come with a regular jewel case instead of the back page being an open sleeve, but at least it stops me from flat out wanting to return it.

The music is some of Peter Tagtgren's best; this genius songwriter always delivers
This is a difficult album to review. The music is some of Peter Tagtgren's best; this genius songwriter always delivers. The vocals by Till Lindemann are strong as well, but the lyrics are mostly disposable and even tasteless. Definitely buy the physical CD, because the beautiful and hilarious artwork perfectly complements each and every song. "Ladyboy" and "Fat" both anger me a lot though, probably because I'm an overweight post-op transsexual myself. I've had my share of relationships with people like the narrator of these songs. If Till Lindemann seriously thinks that "ladyboys" should all be used for fun without love, then I feel sorry that he's so sick and pathetic. If, instead, he's ironically presenting a narrator who represents the idiocy of that type of attitude, then he's okay by me. "Cowboy," "Yukon," "Praise Abort," and even "Fish On" are highlights for me. The two artists involved in this project are obviously enjoying themselves though. It's just that there is a disconnect between the music (which seems far more like high art than party music to me) and the lyrics (which often, but not always, could have been written on a bathroom wall.)

Provocative Industrial Metal At Its Finest!
German industrial super-duo, Lindemann (Peter Tagtgren of Pain, Hypocrisy and Till Lindemann of Rammstein fame) are known in many circles for being controversial, provocative, and all things debaucherous. From Lindeman''s growling, sleazy voice to the beating of drums and the songs' lyrics themselves, they're not a band for the faint of heart. So keep that in mind firstly. This is Lindemann's only album to be sung entirely in English (having released a 2019 follow-up) - even Rammstein's songs are in German. But though Till abandoned his mother tongue for Skills in Pills, the lyrics are no less fervent, and no less vivid. There's some real tough ones to listen to on hear - but as always, well-written, and the tracks themselves are infectious. Not a bad song on here. The title track itself, the album's opener, packs a ferocious chorus, and this only continues with the second. 'Fat' is probably the band's worst song to date, lyric wise. It can be uncomfortable to tolerate at the best of times, but still has a barraging sound to it. 'Fish On' is another standout track, as are 'Cowboy' and 'Praise Abort' - an incredibly tongue-in-cheek closer. But the band do some really great ballads that we don't see enough of. 'Children of the Sun', 'Home Sweet Home' and 'Yukon' are all deceptively mellow, or slower, and crescendo into choruses of biblical proportions. The lyrics are poetic, cryptic, and crafted flawlessly. A testament to the enduring sound of this band, no matter the tone they're going for.Honestly, this is a fantastic debut, and a great album from start-to-finish. The high price tag for a CD is because metal CDs are always a bit more expensive, and this is a great digipack which opens to reveal an attached booklet - with lyrics for each track, and respective imagery. A really nice CD, and an even mightier album. Highly recommend. Just remember what you're getting into with Lindemann.

Wunderbar!
Firstly, the book and presentation box is lovely, something that I am happy to have on display in my collection. It looks great and the book provides all the lyrics along with artwork and photographs. The music itself was even better than I had anticipated. After hearing Praise Abort pre album release, I did have high hopes, but I wasn't sure if the rest of the album would be as strong. For any fans of Rammstein, it will be interesting for you to hear Till singing exclusively in English, which he does brilliantly. The lyrics aren't for those who are easily offended, but then I'm sure you probably wouldn't have found yourself looking at this product if you are. Each song is powerful, energetic, and catchy, making the album a pleasure from start to finish. I would definitely recommend giving this album a listen, you can hear snippets on Lindemanns YouTube and also watch the video for praise abort, if you like what you hear then the rest of the album won't disappoint!I really hope we see more from this duo!

Not for the feint-hearted
First impression. After hearing "Praise Abort" for the first time I didn't know how to feel about Till singing the whole album in English: the strong accent was not pleasing to the ear and I could already see the video and lyrics being criticised by masses. As a non-German I listened to Rammstein with so much gusto because I didn't understand what they sang about unless I Googled the lyrics and with English, all the taboo language and themes are right there in your face. However the snippets on a loop really grew on me and I no longer felt a discomfort over the accent.Presentation. The hard-cover book is well designed, with fantastic artwork of Till and Peter, handwritten lyrics and rather disturbing images (that look like cut-outs from some sort of German encyclopaedia) of sickly body parts and genitalia and weird medical tools.Music. While just a fan and not a musical expert, I would recommend having a good set of speakers/subs and earphones to fully appreciate this album (because my cheap speakers don't pull it off). Unlike Rammsteins albums, where Till's voice is usually unaltered, here you can hear that it was tweaked a bit. All the songs have very catchy rhythms and I absolutely love the amount of instrumentals. Some elements I recognised from Rammstein (A horse neighing at the beginning of "Cowboy" reminded of "Te quero puta" and some elements in "Praise Abort" were so close to "Pussy" but otherwise this album stands on its own.Lyrcis. As the album title suggests, most songs are about the use of pills: be it a large variety of random pills ("Skills in Pills"), medical - assuming the song is about cancer ("Home Sweet Home"), contraception - or lack of thereof- ("Praise Abort"), hormonal ("Ladyboy")... Not sure about the rest of the songs. :-) "Fat" is just hilarious; "Yukon" is plain awesome, easily can be a second single; "Skills in Pills" and "Praise abort" proper energetic and epic, all in all, there is no single song that feels like a filler.

I loved it.
You should probably listen to some of the songs first before buying, but if you're a fan of Till or Peter, then you are likely to enjoy this. The photographs were really fun and artistic too. If you're not into collecting special editions, then you don't need this version, but if you like the extras, then sure.
