It is built sturdy and I am sure it will continue to do ...
This is the first grinder I have had that really grinds the beans course enough for my needs.Through the years I have had several electric grinders and a couple of manual grinders and none did the job. From the first time I used this grinder it did exactly what I wanted. It is built sturdy and I am sure it will continue to do a good job.Over the years I have learned to not pay too much attention to negative reviews since I feel most of them are made up to try to badmouth the product. I notice on this one there are 2 negative reviews that are nearly identical and done a day apart --- claiming a screw fell down into the grounds making the unit unusable. I notice there are 3 very small phillips head screws that hold the triple mounted stainless steel support for the ceramic burr in place so it will not wobble. It is highly unlikely that any one of these screws could come loose, but there is a nut that holds the burr in place that could come loose, but this is not a screw and if it came loose you would only have to put it back in place and tighten it. This is a great grinder so don't believe anyone who tries to badmouth it with made up tales.

It works fine, but the problem is you can't hold is still due to its shape. So it wobbles around and it is very frustrating. It needs some sort of stand that can hold it down.

Aesthetically Pleasing, Feels Sturdy, Even Grind
So far, so good. It looks and feels very sturdy. The grind selector is clearly marked and easy to operate: numbers from 1 to 8 with "stops" at each half-mark for a total of 15 different grind choices. Opened up, it is easy to see the burr and watch the spacing change as the selector is adjusted. The grind seems quite even for a hand-grinder - I chose 3.5 for my first test-run, ground enough beans for one large cup, and it took less than a minute of grinding for a weak old arthritic woman. There was a loud squeaking noise which turned out to be the nice wooden knob squeaking as it turns on its spindle. If the noise bothers, a drop of mineral oil will probably fix it.I had hoped the catch-jar would fit a canning-jar lid for storage, but it does not. I have not found a lid to fit it yet. If too many beans are ground, they will be decanted into a small separate jar. It is a good heavy glass jar which does not look like it will break.Though the outside is stainless steel, the inside of the hopper and the inside bracing is hard plastic, so time will tell how that holds up to repeated use. The hole in the lid for the turning spindle is reinforced with a brass bushing which helps hold the spindle true.

Worked well for a few months then got loose would only produce a coarse grind
Used to grind coffee for pour-overs for one person at home. I had been using setting 3 or 4 but eventually only 1 (finest) would produce a decent grind, now setting 1 is very coarse. There is no obvious way to tighten up the burr, it's tight on the shaft but the movable stone is now too loose. Since I am out of the return window I might take it apart and see if it can be repaired.

5/21/18. I read another guy's review of his product being defective as the ceramic burr keeps falling in to the ground coffee container. I must gotten his returned grinder because the same thing happened to mine. LOL! It worked fine this 1st time (see attached photo that shows grind 1 and 8) I reattached the burr but couldn't get the same fine-grind. I sent them an email but never got a response. I'll return in it the item and I'll reorder since I like the look and feel of the product. Hopefully I get a working grinder next time.I'll update as soon as I hear back from them or if I get a replacement.

Provides coffee just as I want it.
One of the two best coffee grinders I have ever used. Everything important and nothing left out. Grinds regular, precise grinds with little effort, plenty of capacity. Good parts, sturdy and fit together well. What's not to like?I grind my coffee daily, have for over twenty years. The only grinder that is (marginally) better is the electric ceramic burr grinder I had in Japan. Can't find one like that now.

GETTING TOO TIRED OF SPINNING
TAKES TOO MUCH ENERGY TO SPIN AND GRIND. MAKES YOU SWEAT AND GET THIRSTY QUICK. GREAT WRIST EXERCISE. THEY SHOULD PUT THIS IN FITNESS CENTERS.

This is pretty bad. I used it for only 2 months
This is pretty bad. I used it for only 2 months, and one day, it missed a part in the middle of the grinder. All coffee beans dropped right into the glass container! I cannot figure out where the piece went. I was using a Blissslii manual grinder before, that lasted more than 2 years!AllenThis is a follow up to my previous comment. PHIVE contacted me last week and sent me a new replacement for free! Wow, I was really impressed since that shows they really care about customers! I mean my broken one is 2 months old, and it already passed beyond return date. So I tossed it out thinking I would have no use of it. Obviously if I still had it, I could have sent it back. Thanks to PHIVE, you guys are really great, it gives me full confidence to continue shopping with you guys in the future knowing that I will be taken care of. :-)Allen
