Quality LED Floor Lamp
I was concerned when I purchased this light, that there were no reviews to call upon. However I needn't have worried. The lamp is well made and has a quality feel, its very easy to build with clear instructions. The light itself is very bright for LED's, it has 3 dimmable settings and the light unit itself is quite thin but this isn't a problem. The Base unit is heavy and keeps the light from being moved. Overall I am really pleased and it is certainly better than my old Mother/Daughter type floor lamp plus the added benefit of energy efficient LEDS.

poorly designed and poorly built
About three years ago I bought an LED replacement for a 300w halogen (‘heater’) uplighter bulb, and discovered that neither of my two uplighters actually turned off when the dimmer switch was turned all the way down and the light went out. They went to the tip, and I’ve been looking for a decent LED uplighter ever since; this isn’t it.The uplighting from this light is good. The claimed 3000 lumens illuminates the corner of the room where my armchair sits, and the reflection off the 2.5m ceiling provides a good light for my Kindle beneath it. It’s an improvement over a mother and child style uplighter and reading lamp combination. The single switch puts the light on maximum at the first touch, then 50%, 20% and off at the fourth touch. I’d rather have an on/off switch and a setting switch, but that’s a minor point. The switch is at about 1.16m from the floor, the light head at about 1.68m.I’m fond of uplighters and have ten of them. They are either wired through the first segment of the upright with the cable emerging towards the bottom of the upper tube, or they’re wired through several segments with the wire emerging just above the base or through the base. My best pair have a single tube stand without segments to screw together with the cable running out of the side of the base. This light has a novel feature, as the cable in the short top segment (carrying the light head) terminates in a coaxial plug which must be passed through the second tube and plugged into the socket in the third tube just above the switch. The third (switched), fourth and fifth tubes have the cable threaded through them, and the cable finally emerges from the fifth tube two or three centimetres above the base, in the form of ten or twelve centimetres of cable and a coaxial plug. The white paint on the aluminium tubing varies slightly in colour between tubes, and the tubes are supplied with pre-chipped paint on their ends. This is not acceptable at the price these uplighters are sold for. Also, the stand should be a single tube. There’s about 1.9m of cable attached to a large (10cm high) transformer plug which terminates in a coaxial socket. The cable emerges from the top of the transformer plug, which is fairly stupid for an appliance which must stand on the floor. The coaxial plug and socket at the base of the uplighter fall apart without assistance; there is no way of locking them together. I’ve used two cable ties to secure them in loops of cable, and a third to hold the loops to the stand just above the base. This reduces the available amount of cable and the distance the uplighter may be from the power point. This is not acceptable at any price.Poorly designed, poorly built, greedily priced.
