Changes in our judicial System is needed
What a great book. This book reinforces the need for change that is needed in our Judicial system in regard to foster care/ adoption and any other out of home placement.Roxanna Asgarian does an amazing job in her research and writing on the questionable parenting techniques of Jennifer & Sarah and how our legal system failed them, the children and the biological family!

The real story behind the headlines...
A good read to understand biological families and the origins of the six young victims. Very sad. The book shows how the children were victimized by every adult in their short lives. The worst was the system that was supposed to save them. Instead, they delivered them into the hands of monsters.I did skip over parts that delved into policy and laws. Otherwise, a page turner.May families get some peace...

Brilliant and devastating
This incredibly well written and honestly lived vivisection of the foster system uncovers hard truths and painful realities. I am proud to claim the author as a former AP English student. I knew she was brilliant years ago, and today I am astounded. Roxanna is an award-winning author and journalist whose empathy and insights should change the system she knows all too well.

Great story, extremely informative
An amazing book and story. Great at helping to understand how something could go so terribly wrong.

Dry
This book might be important reading for anyone working in social services in any capacity. But it was overall, a depressing slog.

Excellent Research and Reporting
This is a really REALLY good book. As another reviewer said, I learned so much I didn't know, or didn't want to know. I listened to this book and the reader is also very good, and the material was conducive to listening - I didn't get lost. Be prepared to experience a wide range of emotion - anger, sorrow, disgust, hopelessness, but also hope in light of some recent changes. Our poor stupid country is such a damn mess!

interesting and sad read
Really interesting well researched book about how the foster care and adoption system caused two sibling groups with loving but unstable parents to end up adopted, far from home, and murdered by their adoptive parents.

Painfully honest and heartbreaking
This book peels the layers back on the foster care system and how first families are at a disadvantage. It also exposes the longing of a family to reunite in a family court system that pre-judges them, only to allow another family grow without a safety net in place to follow these children.
