Useful bit of kit for an Xbox One
Useful bit of kit for an Xbox One. I have a main Xbox One with a Kinect which is fantastic for its capability to control multiple AV devices such as a TV and sound bar but having just got a second one for the bedroom I didn't want the additional expense of a second Kinect (or the chance of a Webcam/Microphone comedy moment upstairs.....). This is great in that I can just use the Xbox One remote and have the auto tv on/off etc with it; this works especially well in conjunction with the Xbox One TV Tuner as no need to change inputs for live TV.Note that you will need to run the wire near the IR point of your TV so it isn't a totally clean look, I'd use the Kinect for a main room but as said ideal for a bedroom or secondary room.

Very Useful
From my understanding the product description says that this cable is useful when your blu-ray player / sky box etc is in a closed cupboard, making it harder for the two "Pyramids" to communicate wirelessly with each other. However, in my setup where the IR transmitter pyramid is in a closed-upstairs cupboard containing my Sky box and blu-ray player both pyramids wirelessly communicated quite happily with each other without the need for this extender cable (the IR receiving pyramid is downstairs in the lounge and I have another one in my bedroom). What the extender cable does help with though, thanks to it having two infra-red eyes on it, is when you have more than one thing to control that are a distance apart. For example my Sky box is on the cupboards's top shelf whilst my blu-ray player is on the bottom shelf. Putting the Pyramid next to the Sky box meant that the blu-ray player couldn't be controlled and vice versa. However the extra infra-red eye allowed both to work meaning I didn't need to buy an extra IR transmittor pyramid. Also stickers come with the cable to allow you to stick the IR eyes onto your the IR sensor of your equipment. Instead I just hung the eyes in front of the IR sensor of my blu-ray player and Sky box and it still worked. This means that if I ever get, for example, a new blu-ray player I don't need to unstick the IR eye from the old box.Hope this all makes sense!

"Universal" it isn't. Check it has the jack plug size you need if using it for kit it is not designed for.
5 stars because I don't want to bad mouth a product because I was stupid. A universal IP cable cannot be universal unless it comes with more than one jack plug - this doesn't - I should have noticed and I should have guessed it would not work on my Slingbox Solo. If not using this cable for the kit it is designed for, check it had the jack plug size you need. My next plan of action is to leg it down to Maplin, buy the right jack, cut the wrong jack off and fit the correct jack. I still run the risk that the power required to light the IR eye is correct but it won't be a huge investment in time or money even if I still fail. In the meanwhile I realised that my old cable broke at the end of the moulded jack plug. I cut away the moulded plastic and re-soldered the wires and smothered the join with araldite to make it practically possible to push the jack in and pull it out without the wires re-breaking and so far my old cable is working again. P.S. I did this job with the help of a voltage tester measuring continuity to find out where the breakage was and to test my soldering before slapping araldite all over it. I hope that helps someone.

I have had Marmitek pyramids for years so purchased these ...
I have had Marmitek pyramids for years so purchased these so I could operate two IR components in cupboard unfortunately theses are not the same design as the originals and are to directional consequently I couldn't get my unit to operate unless I held IR transmitters in front of receiver unit which was very unsatisfactory so I returned them.

Works really well, long cables.
Works really well in our xbox, controlling the TV on/off. Cables seem very thin, but haven't broken yet! They are also quite long.
