Improve my paintings no end.
I have not really touched watercolours since I was about fifteen, having mostly used an airbrush and gouache. However, in these long days of the dreaded covid lockdown I thought I would give watercolours a whirl. It is quite therapeutic to slosh loads of water on for washes and is exactly the opposite of the precision of the airbrush. Anyway I knew what I wanted to achieve (trees and foliage etc) but was struggling to get stippled and other effects. At that point I watched a video about watercolour techniques and realised that I needed fan brushes and other strange brushes. I don’t think I will be exhibiting at the National Gallery any time soon, but this set of brushes have really improved my paintings.

Good for experimenting with new techniques
I do like these brushes, they are fun to experiment with. But I'm glad I bought them for £5. The fan brush after a few uses looks like an alley cat's whiskers, even though I took care when using and cleaning it. The other brushes are very good and clean easily. The sponge lets you cover a large area quickly leaving a nice texture. However, it takes a bit longer to clean.I doubt I would have bought them for £16, but then I'm on a budget.

A great set to add to your watercolour brush collection
I am very pleased with this set. As a beginner artist, this is a perfect combination to trial different types of brushes without spending a fortune. The bristles are fine and beautifully flexible.
