This is like a Black Panther solo-film should be.The Christopher Priest launch of the Panther catapulted the character to an unprecedented level of fame and fortune with such a quality product and this series capitalises on that and allows for a perfect jumping on point. This volume examines the history of the Character, the Country and the Man with an engaging style and beautiful large-scale dramatic artwork by fan-favourite John Romita Jr.He may be a ‘marmite’ kind of artist and sometimes I find his linework too much and too broad (I was not a fan of his Avengers stuff for instance) but here, with the dramatic African background and supporting cast he is in his element and suits the stage.Fans of the character, those wanting to try-out the Panther or those looking for a return to the hero due to his movie-prominence will all thoroughly enjoy this ...and be hooked.

Black power
This is an excellent jumping in point for those (like me) who don't know the character of Black Panther in the Marvel Universe at all. Reginald Hudlin (director of House Party) scripts a pretty decent introduction to the character. He's like Captain America but for Africa, and dresses all in black sans shield. Unlike most superheroes who are vigilantes, Black Panther is the leader of his fictional African country Wakanda which is a self sustaining nation that is far more technologically advanced than Western nations, let alone African nations (they even have a cure for cancer!).But people want what they don't have and many have tried to invade Wakanda's borders for years. Partly because the nation is so rich and is sitting on a massive oil deposit it refuses to mine, Black Panther and his government come under fire from mercenaries and greedy plutocrats looking to exploit this isolated yet deadly nation.Well written with lots of action, "Who is the Black Panther?" is a fine introduction to a somewhat unknown Marvel character. This edition also includes two Fantastic Four issues from 1966 where Black Panther made his first appearances.

Great storyline!
Marvel, as usual, presents a great storyline with multiple strands. Compared to a DC story I read recently about "Black Lightning", this is outstanding! The navigation from frame to frame works smoothly, like I'm watching a movie. If I need to see the whole page, a simple double-tap is all I need. Furthermore, if I need to zoom in on a frame, a double-finger swipe gets me there. Marvellous!

Great origin story
I've seen a brief origin of black panther but it's good to read the whole thing. It's a really good story with what would be a continuation after.Great read with the promise of further arcs being just as good.

Good story, couple of weak points
Good story, about a self doubting monarch growing into his position. However I feel it was let down by some of the scenes where he is travelling literally from one country back to his in what must be minutes.. The beauty of comics, doesn't have to make sense to be enjoyed
