a Family Favorite!
I bought this book after a fellow children’s literature fan (I’m a Children’s Librarian) recommended it. Not only do I adore it, but my children do too. I have a 7-year-old girl and a 3-year-old boy and they BOTH love it-and not just around Halloween, but throughout the year. I love the retro-style of the illustrations. They both also loved it when we first bought it-a year ago. It’s noteworthy when a picture book intended for older children will hold a 2-year-old boy’s attention! :) My kids love finding the cute little ghosts on each page. A very sweet story for all kids, but especially those who don’t want one that is too spooky.

Read it several times with your child!
The first time I read was pleasant, but we kind of missed the easter eggs: so many cute ghosts to find on every page. The illustrations are very beautiful, stylish, and the brushes strokes are free. The colors are really great, something that reminds me of Nobrow a little bit. The more recent books from Ella Bailey seems to be more "formatted" for a younger audience. This is my favorite.

Cute book, sweet story
Very cute book. My daughters asked us to read it all season long. This one may stay out when we pack our Halloween books away!

This is a gorgeous book which my class enjoyed enormously. They adored the pictures and have gone back to look at the book again and again. The quality of each picture is stunning and inspires children to think about detail in their own work, as well as add a little humour of their own. Ella Bailey is a talented author/illustrator whose work has been admired by many staff at our school.....We like to inspire 'awe and wonder' in our children but find that adults approach this delightful book in this way - we can't wait to see more of Ella Bailey's work!

Beautiful in both presentation and content
This is a beautiful book, both in content and presentation. The book itself is a hardback, about magazine sized, and tells the story of Georgia, who notices a mystery, and investigates. The story is told in verse, with sensible vocabulary and a readable metre (both for the reading out loud as an adult, and for my daughter reading alone). The pictures bring the book to life, and it's no exaggeration to say that each picture could easily be removed from the book and stand alone as a picture on a child's wall. With endearing characters, great artwork, and a story to match, this is the perfect book for budding readers at Halloween. Our daughter (5) needed a little help with some words, but loved it.
