Practical Magic: A Beginner's Guide to Crystals, Horoscopes, Psychics, and Spells

Too Broad and full of very basic information
This is more like a beautiful coffee table book - not something I would actually recommend to anyone interested in the occult, metaphysics or spell work. It covers all the big subjects but so briefly that it would only be useful if you have 0 to no knowledge of the subject. Even then, it doesn't give you quite enough to get off the ground. I get it, these subjects are big and it is a 'beginner's book', but this felt like it was just cashing in on the "witchy" trend with some cute illustrations. Maybe for a tween this could be a fun "teaser" kind of book?Honestly it's a little embarrassing to have on the shelf next to other, more robust "beginner's books".

This book was so good. Abit "shallow" of a 101 book but its meant to be used as a sampler. I have been a Wiccan for 5 years and too well read for the book but i am sucker for hardcover books. The artwork inside looks like water color, and its a hardcover with no dust jacket so you dont have to worry about a dust jacket getting ruined over time if your someone who re-reads alot or uses these types of books as refs. Would totally rec as a first book IF your going the Wicca or modern witch practice, this book probably isnt for the traditional witch as its more Wiccanized than most i have talked to would like.

Short and sweet guide for beginners
It is a very beautiful book art work wise. I purchased this book as I wanted to learn more and I am curious in the practice of witchcraft to the point where I want to start doing so. This book is beginners friendly although it’s more of a quick overview on things. The book mostly explains what chakras, tarot, pagan holidays, etc. are short and sweetly. It offers a small number of spells and helps get you started on crystals & crafting gris Gris bags along with a setting for your spell casting. This book is not quite for younger audiences if you are reading this review thinking on purchasing this book for “the fun of it” for your 10 year old granddaughter lolz. I love it and it’s a quick read despite having 136 pages (excluding conclusion & references). Just wish it went a little more in depth but it definitely helped me out with understanding things more, answered my questions, & helped in a starting point for this journey.

As someone who has been described as "witch-curious" recently, I would say I have more than a passing interest in modern occult communities and in the over-arching history of the occult. I bought this book as an introduction to some of the basics of magic, and I was not disappointed. This book is aesthetically pleasing- the illustrations and overall feel of the book absolutely put off a magical vibe. The book is sort of divided into sections, and covers chakras, herbal healing, crystal healing, and then some very basic spells. Really fun read, even if you aren't planning to practice magic!

Fantastic beginner's guide
As someone eager to learn more about healing and spirituality, this book is perfect for me. My favorite part so far is Part 3: Casual Clairvoyance because the dream interpretation section is fabulous. I'm looking forward to diving deeper into the chapters on healing with herb and auras. One other note - the book is beautifully illustrated.

Absolutely Beautiful!
This book is beautiful inside and out! I have a lot of spellbooks now and even more books on chakras, horoscopes and palmistry but I wanted this book simply because it was pretty.I took off one star because the whole book only contained like 6 spells.

Great Beginner Book
This is a great beginner book, which is what I needed. I had the most basic witchy knowledge, and the internet is vast (and often unreliable) plus I'm a sucker for a good hardcover book. I like that there is no dust jacket, because I feel I'll be referencing this book a lot along my journey. I would highly recommend this book for beginner witches or Wiccans; not only is the knowledge easy to read and retain, the illustrations of the book are divine.

Perfect
A great book for beginners. Introduces you to a large variety of topics including crystals, spellwork, tarot and much more. Also includes beautiful illustrations and page design which was a nice touch. Probably one of the best books I’ve read on magic since it covers quite a lot.

Good beginners book
Great book although of you're anything more than a beginner it's only really good for the aesthetics. It give s great overview of all the different areas of magic and a great starting point for one's own book of Shadows. I would say good value for money and great starting ideas.
