WOW - it works GREAT!
I've gone through so many of the cheaper motion lighting sensors I've lost count. When you buy a cheaper sensor it might work well for a while...however you will be climbing back up your ladder and removing it sooner than you would like (my experiences). This RAB sensor is rated to 1000 Watts which means the circuitry is more robust and uses quality components. So far my totally exposed sensor has been subjected to torrential rains, 60 mph winds, cold damp fog for weeks and temperatures down to zero F. Not one glitch in over 4 months of operation. The triggering of the three 100 Watt halogen lamp heads I installed in the mount base is very predictable/repeatable. I really like the 360 downward detection (no sneaking up along side the building on this baby) in addition to having a fairly long range outward facing detector. The installation documentation was excellent. I really like the fact that they even include a "third hand" (the little J-hook thingy) that allows you to hang the back plate on your junction box while you are wiring it up and standing on a ladder. The red roving LED's in the front lens bezel (remind me of KITT the Knight Rider car) are effective in letting you know its searching for any motion and is "on duty". I would highly recommend this series detector if you appreciate quality, reliability and robustness. I would definitely buy again!PS: Make sure you do not connect this sensor to a circuit that has a motor (garage door opener) or other high start current device on the circuit. It is not recommended per the included instructions and might be related to some of the resets that others are experiencing.

Wide range even underneath the sensor
I've installed 3 of these sensors. The sensor installed on the garage lights does not pick up people walking along the sidewalk but does come on when a car enters the driveway or people walk up the walkway. It also picks up the front door because the center down sensor is tilted slightly backwards (while the front sensor looks forward over the driveway) and is installed at the corner of the garage near the gate. The second sensor use the forward sensor to watch a side gate in the backyard and the bottom sensor catches anyone in the patio area. It is installed up near the roof line. The third one looks down the other side of the house towards the front yard. I blocked the forward looking sensor with the enclosed cover [because the neighbors trigger it in their driveway] and only use the bottom center sensor to turn on the light if anyone approaches the kitchen door.I have override light switches on all of the lights to force them to stay on using wiring with the same electrical phase as the direct wiring to the sensor. For the kitchen door/backyard light, I have the main receptacle in the house that is almost always on to supply power to both the outdoor override light switch and the sensors. If I forget to turn off the outdoor override switch, I can turn off the interior switch to kill the power to both the sensor and override switch. On the other lights, we ran power to the sensors directly from the service entrance breaker and also connected it to the override switch to maintain the same electrical phase to both. When the override switch is turned on, it bypasses the sensor by providing power to the other side of the sensor. These have worked great for me over the years and are the best sensors I have found for turning on outside lights.

Quality product
Easy to install and works great. I bought a Heath Zenith from a big box store and after 2 months it failed. This is much better quality and the sensitivity is very precise.

Best motion detector
I have experimented with several motion detectors for outdoor lighting. This one is best by far. Superior adjustable controls. Flexible operating options. A little pricey but well worth it.
