Eye of Buddha Tibetan and Nepali beaten or hand hammered singing bowls are crafted entirely by hand in the ancient Himalayan tradition. Numerous processes and labor-intensive hours go into each and every singing bowl. Style and function dictate which raw materials (Copper, Tin, Zinc, Iron, Lead, Gold and Silver) are melted in traditional furnace. Bronze or Auspicious Metals singing bowls start with the melting of the metals and then poured into a Gulli Cup to the precise weight for the size of the bowl. The hot metal is then made into a flat disk or sand mold. This is where the true craftsmanship comes into play. The discs are shaped and beaten, heated repeatedly until the desired shape is perfected. The heating process looks primitive to the Western eye, but is as much science as it is art. Both Bronze and Seven Metal singing bowls can easily crack or break in the process if the exact temperatures are not maintained. Once the final shape is completed the artisan starts the "Red Hot Tuning". During this stage the singing bowls are etched and hammered. Every strike of the hammer is a further adjustment in the tuning process. Etching requires intense detail in not only design but the tuning as well. Make sure your purchase is an Eye of Buddha Hand Crafted Singing Bowl for the pure Himalayan experience.
