Twisted Together (Monsters in the Dark)

Fifty-eight. I'm Esclave Fifty-Eight.
***SPOILERISH*** (nothing direct that will ruin the story)BRAVO Pepper Winters!!! This final installment of the Monsters in the Dark Series is phenomenal. Not only did she write a dark and twisted tale, but she did it so awesomely. When I first read this series I had only a couple of dark erotica under my belt and those have NOTHING on this series. I honestly thought that I wouldn't like it but MY GOD I was so wrong. This entire series is written to the fullest with nothing held back and nothing left out. What I love most about Pepper's writing is that everything is addressed at one point in time or another. Nothing is left undone or waiting to be unraveled. I am in awe of her writing and this series is just so wonderfully twisted. I first read Tears of Tess over the past Christmas holidays and I just couldn't consume the book fast enough and was lucky enough that Quintessentially Q had already been released because I devoured that book with a vengeance. Then I was really regretting doing that because I had to wait wait wait for Twisted Together. Man let me tell you this book was my most anticipated book of 2014. I would check Pepper's Facebook page and blog pretty regularly for release date and teasers. Then it got to the point where I couldn't read the teasers anymore because I was becoming really impatient..oh but I did share them. I think this is series that EVERYONE should read.I will start with Tess. I absolutely LOVE Tess Snow (Mercer). She is such a strong female character and she is what made this story all the better. I love her fierce determination to live and love. I love that she is so strong that the only way to break her was to give her drugs, but she still survived a shell of who she was but she survived. I love that she was willing to forgo her needs and wants just to keep Q happy. This book picks up right where QQ ends. Tess realizes that she no longer craves the pain that Q delivers, but she is actually fearful of it because of what she was forced to do while being held captive in QQ. Only she is willing to hold her truths in order to please Q. For a good bit of the first part of this book I was just biting my nails waiting and waiting for Q to realize what Tess is going through and to see how he would fix it. When Q finally has enough of her hiding and lies I just couldn't wait to see what he would do, but holy hell I was completely shocked with his plan. But for Q and Tess it was the only plan that would make it better.Q's love for Tess is fierce and so strong that you can not help but be overwhelmed by it when you read from his POV. You can feel his confusion and self loathing when he wants nothing more than to savagely take her, but you can also feel his passion and what he feels for her. I absolutely loved the alternating POV of this book, because it really helped me connect with both Tess and Q throughout the entire story, hell even the series. Q's character really opened up in this book and made him so much more appealing. I am already in love with Q, but this book sent it even more over the edge. I love how Pepper stayed so consistent with his character. She never made any huge uncharacteristic changes in him. Well, that is not entirely true when we first meet him he is a harsh askhole (to Tess), but he still holds that title just with his fierce love for Tess. He is still no nonsense and a man to be feared. He is savage and not afraid to get his hands bloody for the woman he loves. So, I went into this book thinking that it would just be mostly about them getting married and settling into their new lives. HOLY HECK was I completely wrong. Why I thought this I don't know, because Pepper Winters is anything but streamline and her writing shows. I should have expected the "What the Frick" and "Holy Shoot" and the "Heck Yeah" that I did while reading this book. I should have expected the raw emotion while reading. I should have expected the anger and hatred while reading this book. I didn't really expect those things but HOLY FRICK did I get them. The only thing I expected was to maybe cry tears of joy for Q and Tess. I did cry a few times, some were happy and proud, but the others those were throat clogging and a little snotty tears that I should have expected, but foolishly didn't.I have touched on a lot of things about this book and I won't give anything big away, because that is just not my style. I loved this book and this entire series. I am overwhelmed with the emotions that I felt for these two characters and even Franco and Suzette. (Maybe they will have their own story who knows). I loved Frederick and his relationship that he had with Q. I love that all of the people that surrounded Q and Tess knew them so well that they gave them something that they didn't even know that they needed. (That was another one of the HOLY FRICK moments) I love that they were always willing to put their lives in jeopardy to ensure that Q and Tess were safe and protected. In this unconventional series ,these characters have the best friendships and love than most of the books that I have read. This series has some really hardcore stuff in it that is not for the faint of heart or the squeamish. It is dark, gritty, twisted and sometimes really fricking ugly, but it is also so so beautiful. This is my all time favorite series! After reading this last book I can honestly say that this is my FAVORITE series. This series is a MUST read!!!

A must read for fans of the series!
I really enjoyed this book! Tess and Q's story continues in book 3 and they are faced with some new challenges and some old ones threatening to bubble over from the previous books. I really enjoyed Tess and Q's dynamic as well as some of the challenges they were faced with. There was a particular scene in chapter 15 that made my eyes bug out of their head and I didn't know how to feel about it! However, after thinking about it, that scene is very Tess and Q, and it worked for their characters. If you've read the first two books in the series, definitely read Twisted Together!

five stars isn't enough for this story
Oh my god what can I say, there are not enough stars in the world to give this book. What can you say about a book that will blow your mind with every page that you turn. Pepper will set your heart on fire and crush you all at the same time. You will cheer with every demon they slay and cry with pain when they are fighting these demons. There is also lots of hot sex. Pepper is a great writer of sex and the darker the better. The story continues where Q left off. Tess and Q are engaged but there are still demons in both of their lives that need to be conquered. Tess is still having nightmares of what happened to her in Rio. She realizes that she doesn't need the pain anymore to have sex with Q but will let him continue to hurt her for his pleasure. He knows she is lying but he doesn't know how to help her. His monster is growing and wants to come out to play more. They go to the island to get married but they don't . Q does the unspeakable and is going to bring back his fighting enslave. The woman that she was. As she comes out the other side. Q is drawn deeper into his darkness, and is trying to keep it together. Then the unspeakable happens and now it is Tess's turn to be the strong one and fight for Q and fight the demons of his past. Pepper takes us on a rollercoaster ride of emotion. There are so many twists and turns that will keep you turning pages well into the night. I started this book yesterday at 6 and finished yesterday. I couldn't put it down. The characters are so complex and layered. Tess and Q both grow up a lot in this final book. In Tears of Tess you see Tess as a young girl, scared and lonely. Even broken you see the young girl. In Twisted Tess has grown up and matured into a beautiful ass kicking heroine. Q may still have his demons and is still easy to anger when others ogle Tess . But we also see him maturing into the man and the monster that Tess needs and wants. Even Franco isn't beyond the glare of Q when he looks at Tess. Franco in my opinion is the comic relief in the story, Cause I think he just does stuff to rile Q up. Tess and Franco have a unique bond as well . He was the first to meet her and now he is her friend and guard. Suzette is as sweet as apple pie, but don't ever cross her. She can lay a licking on Q and put him in his place more then once. She loves both Q and Tess .I really want Suzette and Franco to have their own book and love affair. They would be so good together. HINT HINT PEPPER if you are reading this . I am in love with this book and I am also kind a sad that this is the last book in the series. I feel like I have watched them all grow up. I have laughed and cried right along side them. Trust me I uglied cried so many times through out the series. I really unglued cried in Twisted Together. There is so much happening. The last 40 per cent of the book had me crying and laughing, but mostly crying . the scenes are so intense . You just want to scream at your kindle, you won't believe what happens and trust me you will be turning the pages well into the night. So as I end this blog I want to say I am so happy that I took a chance of TEARS OF TESS when it was free. It was one of the best decisions I could of made. That book took me to a place where I thought I didn't want to go but glad I did. I was hooked and so wanted to see what would happen . Would they finally get their happily ever after . So I want to say THANK YOU PEPPER , you introduced me to characters that I will never forget. They made me cry and scream and laugh. So if you want to read a series that is dark, very dark but also is a love story of two lost souls that are bound together. Please check out this series

Dangerously dark
So this is the third and final book in the Monsters in the Dark series and I have to admit, I’m gonna miss these guys. What an adventure! This book was absolutely packed with action and suspense pretty much right from the beginning and I loved it. Och, it was wild!TESSOch...poor Tess! She was up, she was down, she was in, she was out and none of it in the way I would have liked. She tried so hard to get over all of the nasty stuff that messed with her head in the last few months, and to a point, Q had helped get her there. But the thing is, the HEA I thought they had at the end of book two was torn apart horribly! She lied to him and he had no idea. She struggles with these awful memories every day and it messes up everything that they had going. She just can’t stand pain anymore and is trying desperately to hide it from Q.When the truth comes out both of their worlds are shattered. Q realises that he almost went beyond the point of no return with Tess during one of their sessions and it chills him to the bone. Both are broken-hearted but Q has an idea of how he could possibly fix everything. It’s extremely risky and unconventional but Tess is so in love with him and desperate to hold onto what they have that she agrees to his plan.I’m not going to say too much about it or how it affects both of them as it would give away too much of the story but I will say that it doesn’t end there. Even more shenanigans are afoot and Tess’s strength and sanity are both tested to the max.Q I am so glad that we get to see things from Q’s POV again in this book. His mind is something I very much enjoy delving into.He is trying so hard to give Tess everything she needs to heal. He does all he can but still doesn’t realise how broken she actually is.After she gives him complete control one night in an attempt to make him happy, he almost goes too far. And if he had? It would have broken him.Honestly, this whole book had my heart pounding. Not good for my anxiety but, who cares? That’s what I pay my therapist for :-)FINAL THOUGHTS on TWISTED TOGETHER by Pepper WintersWhile I enjoyed this book and the HAE they thoroughly deserved, I felt it wasn’t quite as good as the second book.I was ready for it to end and while I certainly wasn’t unhappy with it or bored at all, It didn’t call to me the way the second book did.One thing that had me screwing up my chubby wee face a little though was the stunt that Suzette and Frederick pulled at their wedding. It was...odd, to say the least, and for some reason just didn’t sit right with me. Not because I’m a traditional wedding type of gal, not at all. It just seemed like a very strange thing to do. I do get it, kind of, but just not what I thought fitted if you feel me?So, yeah it was a nice ending for them and well-timed.As Tess, herself said, “Everyone needs a Q”.4 STARS

Aghhh We went right back to square one. Disappointing.
I was so looking forward to this book, but the author ruined it in the first few pages. I don’t have the strength to go back reading again and again the same thing the author wrote in book 2 over and over and again. I could scream myself. Where is the authors creativity that Tess went from relatively happy at the end of book to a person screaming with nightmares again within a few hrs? Waste of money. I’m asking for the money back. I’ll just read the second half of book two if I wanted repetitive text. Let’s be honest, it was driving me potty then as well.

A captivating, endearing and beautiful dark romance
This series is worth so much more than 5 stars. Pepper Winters writes dark romance like no other. Her stories are captivating, her words endearing and her style is profound and beautiful. Her books stay with you and leave their mark on your soul.Twisted together is a raw, unique and enticing story. The depth to which this author goes to describe and develop her characters, even the secondary characters is astounding. I have previously compared Peppers writing to a fine wine, you just want to saviour and taste every word she writes. Her writing inspires me and I am just left wanting more. Q Mercer has fast become a firm favourite in the many male dominant alpha characters I have read, he is like nothing you have or ever will read. The transformation of Tess Snow from book one to three is prolific; she becomes stronger, more determined.I cannot praise this series highly enough. Definitely a top read for 2017 for me.

Q... wow.
One of my biggest hates is when an author changes what drew me to the story in the first place. When they make it dark, only to shine so much light on it, it becomes blinding.I want an author to stay true to the bare bones of their story and their characters, and thankfully, Pepper did.As with the previous two books in this series, it's not an easy read; in parts it made me feel physically sick, and certain scenes turned my stomach. I was on the edge of my seat, hoping and praying for revenge... you'll have to read it to find out if it was granted.I adore the strength Q and Tess draw from each other, I love the people they become in this instalment, and I'm left wanting to know more - so you know the job has been well done.Pepper Winters has an exceptional talent at turning the most unusual stories into ones that stay with you forever, ones you crave to read more of.She creates beautifully flawed characters that capture your heart and refuse to let go... and you don't want them to.She pulls you into the darkness and you go willingly, you need to follow... you have no choice but to follow.Q and Tess are firmly cemented in my heart, I'll think of them often and when I do, it will be with love, affection and I'll admit it, a little jealousy that they're fictional.I'm delighted to say, Q earns his rightful place in my top three book boyfriends of all time, well done, Mr. Mercer, my list very rarely changes.

I miss Q already!
Originally published at Rookie Romance. It's fairly easy for me to say that I loved this book! I've loved watching Q and Tess battle their demons and their enemies, and come out of these fights together. That's certainly not to say that they've not come out broken and bruised, but they survived. One of my favourite things about Twisted Together is the sense of closure and acceptance for both Q and Tess. They both finally get a chance to resolve their monsters, or at least accept them.Q proves once again that there is nothing he won't do to help heal Tess. She has been left with scars that prevent her from being able to fully embrace life with Q. Tess has the chance to become a strong fighter again, stronger than she's ever been.I loved the dual POV in this because I finally feel like we unravel the mystery that is Quincy Mercer. He has been straddling the line between light and dark, right and wrong, his entire life and my heart broke for him. He suffered through horrors when he was a child and I don't even want to talk about what he goes through during the book! I damn near had a heart attack/ nervous breakdown at points in this story. This may be the longest book yet in the Monsters in the Dark series, but the story flies by in a whirlwind of lust, love, healing and hell. The first half has a slower pace as Q and Tess still struggle to overcome events from the past in order to embrace their future wholeheartedly. The second half was a lot more intense as consequences catch up with Tess and Q, and I read an awful lot of it with my heart in my mouth.I loved the ending of the book!! It made my heart sigh with happiness and contentment, the epilogue was the perfect way to close out their story.Overall, this is a dark and intense read as I've come to savour from Pepper Winters. If there's a more tortured soul in the book world than Q, I've yet to meet him and Tess is his perfect match. I loved this book and if you've yet to start reading this series then I highly recommend you read it very soon!*I received a review copy for my honest opinion. Thank you!
