I realise people have their favourite brands and models. Their decisions were arrived at through varying criteria. But for me, this multi-tool remains my all-time favourite for the following reasons:The aesthetics: It's a clean, simple and elegant amalgamation of anodised aluminium, stainless steel and durable plastic.The feel: Its size and weight are perfect as a holstered unit, (secured to your belt), nestled in your jeans or cargo pants pocket, or in your small- to medium-sized EDC kit. It will suit most hand sizes but especially your Large to Extra Large hand sizes.The action: When you're only able to use one hand (while undertaking some sort of activity and the other hand isn't free), this simple slide action (where you almost 'throw' the plier component forwards in a whipping action) provides you with incredible convenience. Unlike other models, you can immediately engage the pliers through this action and while they're not sprung like some models, it just doesn't seem to matter for most tasks. This ingenious plier release method is almost reason enough to purchase the unit.Durability and build quality: I've had 2x of these units and now a third to fit into a small EDC for more than 20 years. All of them have endured heavy use; fishing, camping, travelling through Nepal, mountaineering, general day-to-day work on building sites, in around the house, you name it... it's been there and never, ever missed a beat. Not one rivet or bolt has dislodged or loosened, the blades and tools have remained in excellent condition, and the steel is of a reasonably high quality given the price point. The plier action has actually improved and becomes even more smooth through continual wear. It's almost intuitive the level of force needed to 'flick' it out, in order to use, its like a 'trusty friend who just knows you and how you react.' The holster is made from a highly-durable canvas and velcro. Again, this has endured for almost 20 years of constant use.Diversity of tools available: The older models had a single-blade design. The newer models have a blade which is combined with a serrated edge as well. This offers even more diversity of use, from fabrics to timber. The edge is actually surprisingly sharp too. The serrated edge is a little harder to maintain than a traditional straight-blade edge. But for those with a serrated edge blade sharpener, it's just a few extra minutes out of your day. I think it's a small price to pay for the additional feature here. There's a great plier with plenty of range and grip. The screwdrivers are your typical flat head and Phillips head. The bottle and can openers are simple but more than enough. The scissors are compact but very effective once you get used to their action and abilities. It may not be quite as good as those featured in the Roxon Multi-Tools, but it's still very good for its size and action.Overall satisfaction: Honestly, this multi-tool in comparison to all of my other tools provides the greatest overall satisfaction as it just ticks all the necessary EDC boxes for me these days. For me, this remains the quintessential EDC multi-tool for people of all walks of life.
