The Cup of Excellence® (COE) program is the leading global competition for specialty coffee. Each year, the COE program in ten participating countries selects the best coffees of the year through a series of five cupping rounds by a select international jury. All coffees are submitted directly to the competition by the farmers who grew them. The final winners are then sold to the highest bidder during an Internet auction attracting bidders from around the world. Each competition typically narrows hundreds of submissions to 10-30 top coffees. This is a rare opportunity to purchase green (unroasted) COE coffees in small amounts, without participating yourself in the auction.
