Quick and easy upgrade for my coop
I just moved my guinea keets from the modified 50-gallon tote I was using as a brooder box to their new coop. I'd been using a small feeder and drinker of the type that screw onto a Mason jar. I upgraded the feeder for the coop with a galvanized hanging feeder, but was initially using an old large dog dish and a 5-gallon bucket with some notches along the rim as a drinker. But inverting the bucket into the dog dish was awkward and messy, and needed refilling every couple of days.So I got these watering cups, a length of 1/2-inch PVC pipe, an old rain barrel, and a section of an old garden hose, and within about 15 minutes my guineas had a much nicer supply for their drinking water, which I'll only need to refill about once a week, and that doesn't run the risk of dumping gallons of water out into the middle of their dry coop.Seriously, these cups made adding a drinker system to my coop super quick and easy. Since it's such a low-pressure system, you don't even really need to use pipe cement on the PVC pipe if you don't want to (though I did, since I correctly guessed the guineas might try using the pipe as a perch). Just make sure the cups are all level (which is made easier if you're mounting the drinker assembly on a board, since the cups have a flat back that will sit flush against it when positioned correctly), and you're good to go. My order came with a bonus 5th watering cup, which I mounted to the 5-gallon bucket I'd previously been using in combination with the dog dish. I just drilled a hole near the bottom of the bucket and screwed in the cup, and now I have a drinker I can move around the yard when I start letting the guineas roam a bit.I'm very slightly concerned about the possibility that some kicked-up debris might prevent a cup from lowering completely, resulting in a water leak in the coop. But the way the cups are designed, that would only happen if you let the cups run dry. So for the time being, I am extremely satisfied with these watering cups. They're inexpensive, simple, and make it very easy to add a professional-looking DIY watering system to a coop.

Great for low maintenance, but check regularly!
These are a great addition for any chicken run! I have 8 chickens and would constantly be refilling their water dispenser. I added 5 water cups (1 came free!) and all of the chickens figured out how to use them in minutes, even the not-so-bright ones. I feed my water cups from a 5 gallon water bucket to work with the low pressure requirement and, since I wanted this to be (almost) fully automated, I connected a garden hose to a float valve (from a toilet) to constantly hold the level in the bucket. Works great!Tips:1. Don't over tighten the cups when screwing in! These come with a rubber washer to seal the connection, but the washer is soft and will pinch/not seal if overtightened. I had a small leak on one cup, took it apart, cleaned all the threading, rinsed the dirt off the washer, and everything worked again when put back together.2. The cups do get dirt in them so they will need to be cleaned periodically.3. If you have chickens that like to run around, they could tip the cups as they run by. Since it is low pressure system, it takes a while for the water to drain and the chickens will likely have other cups to drink from, but can risk running out of water in tank that manually refills (my system would drip indefinitely with the hose attachment). Also, the run can get a bit muddy if not fixed quickly. I ended up 3D printing little clips to help keep the cups from rotating.

Definitely a great purchase
I am a brand new (as of this writing) chicken owner, so having a simple way to water the chickens was important to me. After getting a 5 gallon bucket, the installation on these cups was super easy. I'm still working on the best way to clean them (as of right now it is by turning them upside down and using paper towels). The chickens are really happy, and I'm giving them water from a rain barrel, so no added cost!Oh! And customer service has been super helpful. I thought one of the cups wasn't working, but after talking with them, had a great convo and fixed the problem (the spring was slightly jammed).

Much better than old style with lever in it!
We only have 2 hens so we didn't connect the cups in a series to PVC pipe. Bought plastic container shown in pic for a $1 at the Dollar Store. (Container only needs an opening big enough to fit a hand inside to tighten wing nut.) Drilled hole, put spout through hole and tightened wing nut by putting hand through open top of container. This could be done with something as big as a bucket. I did put an additional flex washer on it. Only comes with one. But I put one on each side of the container. Gets residual dirt in bottom of cup because hens root in dirt then drink throughout day. This cup is deep enough that it hasn't affected the function like happened with the old lever kind. It's up on bricks because Peanut likes to use a foot like a hand and immediately dump everything put in there. LOL Dumps it and literally looks at us like, what? She was responsible for ripping out the level in the old style cups too--very ambitious chicken. She doesn't seem to be tempted with the cup up so high. If you have a couple or many chickens this should work to eliminate the dirty water and spillage problems. This is a real time-saver for me and I like it--Peanut may not agree.
