The Workhouse Girl by Dilly Court (2013-06-06)

This is the second book I have read of Dilly Court's this week so if that not enough of a review I don't no what is, apart that I'm about to go for the third book now.

Good writing but the plot was a bit implausible, but the author made the setting & characters authentic.

The Workhouse Girl Author Dilly Court.I brought The Workhouse Girl after reading a few of Dilly Court's books. The story wasn't what I was expecting but surprisingly a really nice read.The story itself was about a girl called Sarah who is saved by the workhouse where she was treated very badly and took in by a sugar mill owner and his wife. Along the way she meets interesting character like Elsie, Grey and Davy as she tries to escape the work house owner and find a place to belong.I wouldn't say this book didn't have slow moments but the end was worth reading the adventure all the way through. Another great read.

Wonderful everyone should read this fabulous story. If they did they did certainly be wary of debt thank goodness that workhouses were abolished and Sarah's experiences cannot be repeated in this day and age. Dilly Court has a remarkable imagination and her characters are like old friends. I am certainly a devotee of this wonderful author. Everyone, no matter what age, should read this book.

This book is worth everyone of those stars and more. I could not put this book down. A brilliant book from a brilliant author. Dilly Court`s books are amazing!!!!! This one will keep you on the edge of your seat. More like this please Dilly.

My wife was recommended this book by a work colleague and after a few, not so subtle hints, I sent for it. It is set in an era she enjoys reading about, with believable characters that seem to come to life, it very quickly became a real "Cant put it Down" book which she absolutely loved from start to finish. This is the first Dilly Court she has read, however I can guarantee it will not be the last.

First book read by this author but won’t be selecting another. Difficult to believe in its credibility. Disappointing as had hoped to read further books by this author..
