Works on 3” aluminum boat frame and 5x4.5” 14 wheel
Boat didn’t have a spare so I bought one and was looking for a cheap way to mount it. This fit the bill perfectly. Lug nuts are tapered to hold wheel better than washer/nut. Works great, strong, should hold spare just fine. The 8 3/4 “ versions were too short and this one works but have lots of extras threads. I’ll probably cut 3” off

Worked well
I bought this to relocate my spare tire on our boat trailer so it could sit horizontally on top of the trailer frame instead of being attached vertically off the side of the trailer. My spare now sits directly under the bow of the boat. The wheels I have are 6lug on 5.5” centers. I did have to slightly spread this device out a little to make it align with my wheel. I also found that the backspacing on my wheel/tire combo left about 1” inch of un-threaded shaft, so the nuts ran out of thread before they got to the wheel. Luckily, I have a tap and die set that i was able to use to cut additional threads down the shafts. An alternate solution would have been adding a material spacer on the bottom of the trailer, or using some sort of spacer or washers to get the wheel/tire mounted where I wanted it. I did order the longer version and the threaded bolts did run up higher than the tire. I was OK with that, by adding a plastic cap on the bolt ends, I can put a vinyl spare tire cover on the wheel, and it allows water to shed off easily. Trailer looks much cleaner (aesthetically) and I can remove the spare tire from either side if the trailer if needed.

Simple, does it’s job as well as or better than the fancy devices
I had to return a carryon brand tire mount because it didn’t work on my carryon trailer…the frame has metal tubes meant for wiring that are welded on the inside of the rails which doesn’t allow for brackets to be mounted to it.But this simple u-bolt works perfectly to securely hold down my spare on the tongue just aft of the trailer jack.Simple, Inexpensive, Perfect!

The product was easy to install
For those boaters who wish to lay a trailer spare tire horizontally on the trailer frame, this carrier is ideal. The reason is its length at 12 inches. Most carriers are a mere 8 inches long. I have a 15 inch tire to mount and the 8 inch carrier comes woefully short. The price is right for the Ce Smith carrier and it was delivered quickly. The product was easy to install. This is a best buy for lots of boaters.

Cheap junk
This was an extremely weird thread size and actually came with the wrong nuts! Can you imagine it being packaged with nuts that were too big for the threads on the U-bolt? I had to go down to Ace Hardware and pick out two weird nuts to fit This extra fine threaded you bolt. Terrible quality and packaging. Way over priced for such junk.I should get a refund for this garbage
