A great holster
I know there's some controversy on this type of holster from dumb people shooting themselves in the leg, and I know most, if not all, federal agencies have moved away from this design. I don't really think that's a fault of the design and I like this design more than the Safariland holsters with the thumb lock. The issue was people having a round chambered, usually in a Glock or Sig without a safety, and as they'd quick draw their finger would immediately go from the release button on the holster, to the trigger, and shoot into the ground, sometimes their leg. There's a few problems there that can't be blamed on the equipment. First off, they should have trained on their equipment without a loaded weapon first to be sure they weren't going to do something as stupid as immediately going to the trigger, accidentally or on purpose. And second, every firearms training I've ever been to stresses not to put your finger on that trigger until you're ready to engage your target. You just don't do that. This holster offers a smoother draw for me than the thumb lock. Sure, I'll probably have to go to a safariland before long since these are being phased out, but since these last a long time, I'll keep using them for my Beretta until I absolutely have to stop.I've beat a few of these up in Afghanistan and they get scratches but I've never had a failure of any type.I'd recommend going with the level 2 holster for any serious day to day use. The level 3 is overkill, and the level 1 (smaller version) allows the safety to be accidentally clicked off just from getting in and out of a vehicle or other movements. The level 2 doesn't get in the way but protects that safety and the hammer from being snagged. This is a seriously great system and I love the different features, like the optional quick connectors that lets me easily transition this holster from my hip or leg carry to my vest carry mounts. I don't need different holsters, just the mounts and quick connect pieces.

Fits great
I really like the Serpa holster, I have used one for my other weapons and wanted something I was familiar with. It is reliably one of the best holsters on the market. I like how tight it secures to my belt and the fact that after I set it I know it won’t move from that location on the belt. Overall the holster is just a level 1 holster so not much retention but it does have some which is all I need for my training. I would highly recommend their holster to anyone wanting to have consistently during their holster training and shooting.

Quality Blackhawk holster
This is the second Blackhawk Serpa level 2 holster I have purchased. The quality is good and the product durability and price are good. This holster does ride low and I would recommend the mid ride attachment if you are looking for more comfort in a vehicle or chair.

Looks nice, works great, but get a different mount
I bought this solely for use in armed security. The included belt attachment is annoying in that it doesn't allow you to slide the rig forward or back once it's on there, making it a royal pain to find exactly where you want it to be on your belt before you cinch down the screws to permanently secure it. Also, the low-hanging position of the belt mount is uncomfortable as heck when you're sitting in a vehicle (especially one with a center console), because it makes the holster dig into your thigh. The mid- or high-position mounts available for the SERPA holsters are MUCH better and pretty much a must-get.Otherwise, this is just like any other SERPA holster in that it's simple, rugged, functional, secure, and nice-looking.EXTRA BONUS: I bought this to fit a full-size Smith & Wesson M&P45, but it also perfectly fits my SD9VE. However, for whatever reason, it DOES NOT fit my Glock 30 nor will it fit a Glock 21 or 20, even though it's the same "Size 13" as my Level III SERPA that DOES fit those models. Strange bit of inconsistency there on Blackhawk's part.

BLACKHAWK
BLACKHAWK is known for quality, and also how expensive they are lol. This holster is amazing, def. went in the right direction with serpas, and lead the creative curve. I purchased one for my sig 226, very nice, but the only downside is if your running a tac light, at least for sig, this is not friendly, unless you have a blackhawk light as well, others wont fit on there very specific rig. Other than that works really well, draws are way faster then traditional holsters. Made very well and parts are of good quality. This specific one is well priced, I think level 3s are a lil over kill and very expensive.I think the only competition to this holster would be safariland,a little more friendly to the sig pistol nation, but I went with this one because both companys are really good, and I have alot of Blackhawk gear already. If your just run and gun or are going out to tournaments, serpa 2 is the way to go.Also different attachments that you can tell this company has put alot of thought into for the serpa line, well done Blackhawk, thanx.

Great Holster!!
Fantastic value and great product!! I researched holsters and determined this to be best suited for my application. I use a heavy gauge leather belt (~.25 thick) that would not pass through the plastic belt loops of this holster without considerable force. To remedy, I removed the back plate (3 screws attach the holster to the back plate), used a couple of tapered shims to create a .30" opening in the loops and soaked it in the oven at 200 degrees for 20 minutes on a cookie sheet. I removed it after soaking with a pair of leather gloves and slid the shims closer together to create a wider gap. The plastic was very soft at this point. I let cool to room temperature, removed the shims and viola!! My belt slid through easily and I was then able to use the adjustment screws (which I back off almost entirely prior to heating) to get the snug fit I was looking for. Pistol drawing is a snap with the SERPA design though repetitious practice is necessary to ensure fluid movement.
