LOVE THIS!!
This product is AMAZING.My husband and I have been ttc since June 2011 after a miscarriage in May 2011. We were unsure if everything was "up to par" on his side since he is a caffeine junkie. I have been using opk's, temping, etc and have seen the ovulation dip... so I know I am ovulating. So I asked him if he would try the sperm test and he agreed. We ordered it on a Saturday, it was shipped on the following Tuesday and we received it 2 days later, on Thursday. My husband said the only hard part for him was abstaining for at least 3 days so there would be enough "soldiers", as he put it. lolWhen it arrived, we used it RIGHT AWAY... It does help to turn the light off in the room and only use the light from the microscope. With the light lit it was hard for me.. although my husband had no issues either way. I had to have him focus the microscope because even though it comes pre-focused, it was not focused right for us. We did have some complications but nothing that made us think "this product sucks"... it was mostly having issues keeping the "baby batter" where it needed to be. lol This is fun to do together and though it can be messy, it is REALLY cool to see them swimming. We are now sure his sperm count is high enough, they're moving like they should, have no abnormalities (ie two heads, no tails, etc) AND that he has enough sperm volume to do the job.The directions are SIMPLE and EASY TO FOLLOW. I dont see how some of the other reviewers were having issues. So all in all, this item gets an A+ from me and hubby...It did what it said it would do and it saved us A LOT of money!!

Micra Sperm Test Review and Advice
Ok. I bought this product so I could figure out if I'm fertile or not. I had some X-rays in the past and was a bit afraid, so I decided to buy this thing. Now let me tell you, the instructions aren't the greatest thing in the world. So I'll tell you what I did. I followed the instructions: did my business, put the sample in the container, etc, but couldn't see a thing! Very frustrating, and I imagine that was the problem that the person below had with the microscope. So after a lot of ineffective trying, I got the idea to turn off all the lights and look in the microscope. It worked! After half an hour of only seeing the rectangles with nothing else, I saw what I was looking and hoping for: moving sperm cells. The trick is to turn off all the lights, turn the microscope light on, and look into the eyepiece. You will have to slowly turn it around, though. If the microscope gets too close or too far from the sample nothing shows up, from my experience. And if you move the microscope too much while looking through it it messes up the focus. Sitting still in the dark and getting just the right distance I was able to see the wonder of nature. This product gets 4 stars for helping me out, but I take 1 star off for the bad instructions. I hope this post helps you. Just remember, though, if you have trouble with the test don't feel discouraged!!!

The idea of this product is very good & the instructions in the box are very clear ...
The idea of this product is very good & the instructions in the box are very clear but the microscope is defective which causes me to have to give this 1 star only because without the microscope the whole kit becomes useless since you can visualize what you need to see. My husband & I spent almost 2 hrs trying to get the microscope to focus properly. We could see a tiny bit but everything else was blurry so we couldn't count properly.

Good luck
Alright, I've seen a bunch of people saying the product doesn't work. It's not a laboratory grade microscope, it's cheap, but it does work for this application. At least it did for me. It comes with a small piece of tape that is supposed to keep it locked in focus. If you don't see anything at first sloowwwly turn the focus incrementally in one direction and the the other until you get the picture in focus. Dimming or turning out the lights helps a lot. Be patient with it and it will do what you want it to. Good luck

Not worth the price.
So this gives you 2 tests to run. One is a drop of semen on a slide with a slide cover. I only found one sperm this way and it took like 20 minutes to focus to see it. I was freaking out! One sperm? You are supposed to check to be sure the sperm are swimming around at this point. The second test you mix some semen with diluted water and put it in a slide with a dimple in it. You then count to be sure there are enough swimmers within the squares you can see through the lens. After 20 minutes I started googling "no sperm in semen" and was freaking out. So I tried one last test I put a hair in the semen and tried to focus on that. This gave me a point to focus on and finally I was able to see sperm! And many more than one! BUT, I was confused. I could see tons of sperm swimming "deep" in the droplet and some on the surface. Was I supposed to count only those in focus? Or the ones that are in the background too? But I saw tons of swimmers moving all around so all was well it passed the thresholds they gave...until a couple hours later I am googling what other people saw and they had so many sperm all in focus! So I was like, shoot, maybe I have a low count! So I tried again. Again the first slide I saw no sperm at all, and this time on the dimple slide with hair in it I saw a few sperm which all seemed to be trying to lodge into the hair (something about mary, anyone?). In the end I also bought the test which counts sperm....haven't tried it yet as I have to not ejaculate for 2-3 days again. So, basically, 80$ is gone, I think I passed the test, but it gave me doubt because were there really not that many sperm? Or were they just not in focus? I think they could do with an upgraded microscope for this product. Would I recommend? Nope. Id say buy the sperm counter test strip and a microscope and some slides and just make sure more than 50% of the sperm are swimming in a straight line and you will have a clearer picture of whats going on

A little confusing to me
Interesting but pretty confusing. What I saw and what was illustrated were 2 different things. My husband saw the swimmers but I couldn't see much or figure out what I was seeing or what I was supposed to be seeing.
