It's not just a question of the amount of light, but the "temperature" of the light. Some household lamps give off a warm, orange color, while others give you a cool blue color. This light ring helps you compensate for these color differences and enhance the color to give you just the right look.For example, if your room has cool florescent or LED lights, you can easily add just a bit of warmth by dialing up a lower color temperature, giving your photos or videos a more natural look.Before ordering this light, I tried a couple of smaller lights and they simply didn't work the way I wanted. This ring was large enough for me to shoot with two different cameras at the same time and both were perfectly exposed.One of my favorite features is the wireless remote control. It's radio controlled, so you can stand anywhere in the room and you don't need to aim it at the light. The remote is super easy to use. It has a dial similar to Apple's original iPod with a button in the middle to toggle between the brightness and the color temperature. This is so much easier than other lights I've used. The LED on the remote makes it easy to see exactly what the current settings are by giving you the exact brightness level (1-100) and the "Temperature" of the light, which is a scale starting at about 3000 degrees Kelvin (warm) to 5800 (cool).It also comes with a high quality stand that's easy to set up and a couple of camera accessories such as a mobile phone holder with a detachable swivel. This mobile phone adapter is particularly good because it uses a screw mount instead of a spring, so it holds your phone more securely, which is important to me I wouldn't trust a spring mount to hold a $1000 mobile phone.It comes nicely packaged and it even comes with a handy travel bag to protect it when you carry it around.I hope you found this review helpful. Your browser does not support HTML5 video.  This is my first ring light. I use it with my Canon SL2 for the videos i do on YouTube for fun. This has improved my video quality a lot. I used to rely on a rectangle led light and whatever natural light I could get. Working out of town for my job 90 percent of the year, so I record in hotel rooms. Your browser does not support HTML5 video.  I have two selfie lights that clip onto my iPhone, but one is a bit of a flood light and the other is more of a spotlight. For a selfie, they’re adequate. But when doing serious photography or videography, I needed something of more versatility and functionality.What drew me to this model was the remote control abilities. It is hard enough composing photographs or filming a video without adding the complexity of lighting off of a camera.This has an included tripod with segments that are secured with knobs. The tripod base is a bit narrow but the tripod, is relatively stable on my hardwood floor. The feet of the tripod are just capped with small rounded caps so I would not trust the tripod to outdoor use.I was very surprised by the height that this is capable of reaching, which was at least 70 inches high. The head of the light was capable of being steady at being completely upright, 45 degrees forward, and even Folded at 90 degrees (horizontal). A caveat is that the head has to be supported as the knob is loosened or tightened.The light can be controlled with the rear control panel or the remote control. The remote and the rear panel have to be on the same setting to adjust the light.The remote control is very responsive, and the control is identical to operating the rear panel. A dial can be used to adjust increments by units of one or you can press the presets that go in 25 % increments.You can adjust the color intensity to warm or cool (4000-5400K).There are adapters that allow attaching an iPhone (landscape or portrait mode) but the clamp only grips the phone along the shortest dimension of the phone. It will not work with an iPad Pro or mini with what is included.I attached my SLR camera which the tripod supports just to see if it would support it. It actually worked but it is not my tripod of choice given the weight of my camera with a lens (Canon 80D with a 25-300 mm zoom).The items included are an AC Adapter, remote, tripod, remote battery, phone tripod mount, small camera mount.A nylon zippered bag is included but it will only safely accommodate the LED light without the tripod.Overall, the functionality of the light is excellent, and the remote cinches the deal for me.My intended use are for photos on Instagram and for recording audition videos for my daughter (musical theatre/voice).I have a spare tripod but I don’t know if it’s compatible with this system (Manfrotto) but I’ll give it a try.The versatility and functionality gives this item a two thumbs up.
