This weighs 61 ounces (3.9 lbs) or 1.7 Kg empty. The leather is sturdy and dense (and a little stiff, but became more supple even from using for a few days and even more so when treated with leather conditioner). I assume it will become even more so as it is used more.The locking mechanism has 3 spots, so if you stuff it full, you can still close it securely.The strap is part (I think fake) leather, part fabric. It doe not offer a lot of padding and when you fill this full with papers and electronics it is pretty heavy. I would consider that the one negative of this case. The care taken with the rest of the high quality bag is not reflected in the shoulder strap. Something of leather with real padding would have been ideal.There is no fluffy fleece lining (for which I am glad, hard to clean). I also do not feel any polyester foam padding. The inside is lined with fabric. The case itself will offer a fair amount of protection if you have your laptop in the middle section, it is heavy and stiff enough to provide bump protection.It passes the water test (it absorbs water like real leather). That said, it also stained a bit from the water test. I think if it might get wet and you care about what it will look like, you need to waterproof it.The two larger compartments, where one might want to put a laptop are 14 inches wide by about 9.5 inches deep. My 13 inch Chromebook will actually fit in the zippered pocket labeled “1” in the Amazon photos.It comes with a little brass key in case you want to lock it. But only one key (and its not something you can copy). Having a backup would have been nice.Overall a great briefcase for someone who wants a more casual and sturdy look.

This handsome messenger bag is spacious and has room for documents, books, organizers, business tools, small electronics and a laptop. It's best suited for 13-14" laptops although I managed to squeeze a tank-sized 17" Elitebook 8560 inside. I just wanted to see if it would fit. However, I won't use this for anything that size. It's mainly for my MacBook, Chromebook or iPad. I won't go larger than that because there's no cushioning at all on the bottom, front, back or sides to protect laptops from drops or bumps. If you drop the bag or smack it hard against something or have it get accidentally crushed, your laptop is at the mercy of the leather shell and whatever you have around it inside to cushion the blow. I suggest using a sleeve for added protection with thin laptops and tablets.The bag has ample pockets for all my needs. Pens, notepads, small stapler, and even a slim portable scanner all fit inside easily. The latch is adjustable if more space is needed. The quality of the leather is pretty good although it does bruise quite easily. I like the bruise marks. They just make it look more broken in and masculine. The adjustable canvas shoulder strap is a bit thin but has padding where it rests on the shoulder. This bag is a nice alternative for the times when I want to present a more professional appearance while carrying my laptop. I usually use a backpack for day to day but I sometimes have to dress more formal for certain events. As much as I love my backpack, it just doesn't work at all with a suit. This bag definitely looks much more professional and stylish.

I just got done reading my fellow Vine Voice reviews... and I concur 100% with all of them! I think the shoulder strap really needs help. I can not imagine carrying much weight around with such little support/ comfort on my neck. That is to me the biggest con. My other issue is how stiff the leather is. Not much give to "open things up." I think this is a beautiful looking satchel/ shoulder bag. Minor things prevent five stars... so a very solid FOUR star item! Well done Picchio! I have one of their men's wallets... and pretty much the best functional wallet I've ever had! Great company (so far) making great items!

This is a great satchel and is definitely going on my sons birthday list! My husband loves it. I’d give it twenty stars or more if possible. The handle is tough with heavy duty snaps that secure well to heavy duty metal loops on both sides. There is plenty of room for my husbands laptop and other items. It can be a little stiff in the pockets at first but they loosens up. This bit of rigidity is just a testament to the tough design. It reminds me of the satchels in the movie Outlander, really classic sort of old world look. Wipe off with a damp rag or dry cloth. I borrow it when I’m going on a trail ride with my horse. Really comfortable to leave around my shoulder for a couple hours and I love the easy to access pouches. Just don’t get mud on it. The zippers work really great too. If you’re fan of this style this is a high quality choice. The front closes with a push clasp. It is secure, but quick and easy to open. I will caution not to leave it in a barn or somewhere where mice can chew it. I’ve had good leather saddle bags chewed up that way. You can remove the long handle if you wish and just use the sturdy short handle. Solid, quality stitching and materials.
