Havent read this author in quite awhile but one of my book clubs was reading it. So decided to give it a try. And yes, I was hooked on the story. It centers around Pat Traymore, reporter, whose family was killed (father killed mother???) and she was hurt badly. She goes on to do well, and returns to her home town to report on a Virginia Senator, Abigail Jennings who is looking to get the seat for VP of the United States.Also, she wants to return to her home to see if she can make sense of the family killing many decades before. Of course, more than the truth comes out when she learns not only of her past, but the whole story behind the story. Loved this book and forgot how much this author is a good story teller.#kindleunlimited #fourstars

A book group selection; read it fast and furiously! A few plot holes and misdirection by the author made me raise my eyebrows, but overall the incredible descriptions make it easy to visualize the situations. If you enjoy political dramas and not knowing whether a character is truly evil or just a bit confused, this is a great book.

Once again Mary Higgins Clark keeps you glued to what you are reading. u in A television news reporter is offered another job in Washington D. C. making a documentary on the female senator from Virginia. They hope this will be first in a series on famous women in American politics. MS Clark shows how Pat in her investigating Senator Abigail Jennings is doing a great job. She lives in the house that she lived in when she lost her parents in what appeared to be a murder- suicide and their daughter severely injured causing her to lose her memory. As Pat continues to work on the telecast, she gets bits and pieces of her life coming back to her. Read the book the book to see what happens before

Book arrived on time & in OK condition. Was not what I would call good. Was bent but all pages were readable. All pages and cover were there. Older paperback so I expected some yellowing of pages.

I'd been looking for this book for years! Read it about 30 years ago and loved it, then promptly forgot the name of it and the author. Was so excited to find it again! It's entertaining to read it and see how far the "women's lib" movement has come since MHC wrote the book.

This author is a true master storyteller. The characters are real, and interesting. I love the fact that Kerry turned into Pat, came back and was strong enough to find the truth. Her boss was only looking out for himself, the lady across the street was a real psychic, Sam finally acknowledged his true feelings, and Abby was climbing her own political ladder.This book is great, has it all-politics, greed, murder, romance, intrigue , manipulation and power.You never go wrong by picking the books by Mary Higgins Clark.

I have loved all Mary Higgins Clark ever since I discovered them about 20 years ago. She makes it easy to know the characters early in the story, but writes an exciting story that keeps you guessing as to the villain right to the end. I have difficulty putting the book down, and enjoy losing sleep with each book. I appreciate knowing that I can count on clean language, no excessive violence, and romance with no graphic sex ever. I recommend her to everyone. I always anticipate and watch for her next book and frequently reread the old ones.

Quick and easy read set amidst the political scene in Washington DC. A TV journalist is hired to make a documentary about a senator who is tipped to become the first female Vice President. Although the senator seems a nice person, she is hiding plenty of skeletons in her past, as is the journalist.

Enjoyable book. Up to the authors high standard.
