Stones Fall Out & Company Doesn't Stand by Their Jewelry
I ordered 5 bracelets from Melinda Maria, one of which is the "Pod Collection" Mini Pod Pave Bangle. My total purchase exceeded $500, a large investment for me. While beautiful, I noticed that after approximately 2 months, one of the pave stones had fallen out of the "Pod Collection" Mini Pod Pave Bangle. I should have called customer service immediately, but life gets in the way and I did not. My fault. A few weeks later, a second stone fell out of the same bracelet. When I called, it was 107 days after my order date, 17 days outside of their 90 day customer service return window. The representative I spoke with on the phone was very understanding, acknowledged that their customer service policy for issues such as mine was not very forgiving and indicated that as a company, they were working towards better customer service. She advised me to return the bracelet and told me that once they received it, someone would look it over and make me an offer for replacement. She indicated that while I would not receive 100% of my purchase price, I could expect compensation in the 80% purchase price range. I was happy with this expectation and shipped off my bracelet for review.A week later, I received a email from their customer service department offering me a credit of $35, only 30% of the bracelet's value. When I called and voiced my concern, especially after being led to believe I could expect a credit closer to 80% of value, I was told a supervisor would need to review the situation and call me back. Later that day, the same customer service representative returned my call, told me that in lieu of my $35 credit, her supervisor was willing to offer me 25% off a single-item purchase instead. I was told that her supervisor was not available to speak with me and the decision was final. She did however, offer very generously to mail me my broken bracelet back, because after all, it was mine and I had paid for it.Overall, I understand the published customer service policies stated on the Melinda Maria website and realize I should have called about my first missing stone when I first noticed it within the 90 day warranty period, but given my experience, I simply cannot endorse Melinda Maria Jewelry, especially the "Pod Collection" Mini Pod Pave Bangle.
