Best baby book!
I am not sure why this book got such a bad review by the previous reviewer.I am a developmental interventionist with infants that may have been born premature, with a syndrome, or otherwise at high risk for developmental problems. Whenever this book, or one of the previous editions, is available at a cheap price, I buy it to give to the families I work with. Peter Walker integrates basic PT and OT techniques into all areas of this book. It is NOT just about massaging your baby but is about how to maximize development. He shows very easy activities and exercises that will address symptoms you might notice or might want to prevent. The techniques illustrated are excellent and closely parallel techniques I want families using in helping their babies. He uses sound principles. A plus is that this particular edition can stand up like an easel so the adult can work on a technique without having to prop the book open.

Best infant massage book I have read
I am pregnant and expecting my first baby. I am very interested in using infant massage when my baby is born, both for the purpose of bonding and comfort for the baby, as well as for helping the baby's development and growth.I have checked out several books on the subject from the library, and have ordered a few off of Amazon. This book is by far the best, most clear, detailed and informative one I have read. I love the step by step format, and the different massage techniques for different purposes (easing colic, helping baby learn healthy posture, encouraging coordination of hands, massage to help baby go to sleep, etc.)The one negative review on this book scared me a little, but after reading this book I have to believe that the person who wrote that review didn't even read this book.

Excellent resource: Well written, lots of photos, built-in-stand
This is a very thorough book with lots of great illustrative photos and clear explanations of massage techniques for babies of various ages and developmental stages. I love that the book has a built-in stand so the reader can easily refer to the pages during a massage.Though I did try some of the techniques here and there, I unfortunately never did implement a massage routine, but that is not the book's fault! I did learn the "Tiger in the Tree" baby yoga technique from this book, which was a lifesaver for me and my very gassy baby. As the book asserted, it calmed him down immediately when he was upset about pretty much anything except hunger (or maybe a full diaper). To me, that alone was worth the purchase of the book.

Great, simple instructions for parents new to massage
This book was recommended by my 6 month old's occupational therapist. It provides simple, easy to follow massage instructions and information about baby's development. The pictures, along with the descriptions of the techniques, helped me feel confident in what I was doing. The book has pages for everything - from newborns, to daddy & baby, to babies with specific needs. What was also great was how the book has a fold to easily stand up so you can easily follow along while massaging. This book really is a good start to new parents, parents new to massage and parents who aren't hardcore into baby massage but want to try it. Glad I bought this book!

No interest
Except maybe for the "healing" part, this book did not bring us anything new or anything that couldn't be found while googling... I hate to compare because a book and the web are very different, but in this case, to me it's not worth the money spent... It is even strange that it is so basic: Do some parents never touch or cuddle or massage or caress their baby before reading this book?In short words, follow your instinct, listen to your baby's signs and you'll do better than what the book offers. The design looked nice and I was expecting much more sophisticated advices... Disappointed...

Excellent for Baby Lily
I bought this book for my son and his wife because they have a baby under one year old, that (as all babies do) tends to be fussy at times. They have used the book repeatedly, and the baby loves it! (Which in turn, makes me happy.) : )

Lovely and very practical, the perfect 'new baby' gift!
I purchased this book for my niece as a christening gift for her baby girl, I was very pleased with it! It is a lovely, attractive book with very easy to follow, informative techniques. This is a very practical book that stands free for ease of use, overall- great format. As a Holistic Massage Therapist myself- I would thoroughly recommend this book to all new parents and carers. Great buy!
