I really think it is accurate, but the time the backlight stays on is so ridiculously short. I don't care if I have to recharge it more often to have a longer backlight duration, what is more important is the utility of the damn thing. If had known of this shortcoming, I would have purchased a different thermometer. Others are just as accurate. The good things about this are the weight of it makes it feel more durable, and the slim probe is a plus. The backlight issue, to me, is enough to make me go with a different one in the future.Update: The thermometer is a piece of crap. If I can't read it while it's in the food because the display will not stay lit, it's useless. Might as well just stick my finger in the food. I've returned to the cheap grocery store ones that I've found, that unbelievably have back lighting that stays on or has a button to turn it on and off, unlike this turd. If you have it and like it, then you're a satisfied buyer, I'm not.

I was looking for a thermometer and was planning on getting the cheapest option on Amazon. I saw this one and thought it would be worth the price- and it definitely is! The main reason I chose this one is that most other thermometers use the expensive watch batteries but you can recharge this one. I also love the fact that it tells you when your meat is cooked so I don’t have to try and remember the different temps for each type of meat. Using this thermometer makes it easy to ensure meat is properly cooked.

A nice digital thermometer. Except the display light goes out before we get a reading. Example: Using it to measure temperature of a cake in user mode, the display went dark just as the beeping started. Anyway to keep the LCD light on???Tested the Mieo against 2 other digital and all 3 matched. That is good!

The media could not be loaded.  This is the best cooking tool I've seen in a long time! Easy to use, accurate, provides a readout in just seconds and has a large enough display that my tired old eyes can easily read.  I like the size and shape, I have had a smaller instant read that was harder to hold reaching into a big meat or on the stove. This is easy to hold tight to poke meats and the big backlit numbers are easy to read when grilling at night.It's also the first food thermometer that has an intelligent stabilization alert which notifies you and holds the readout when it has settled.

I bought this as a replacement for my Thermoworks instant read thermometer…a very high quality product, I have also used two other brands of instant read thermometers (Maverick and Thermoworks) over the past 4 years. Honestly, this one reads faster,The ergonomic design has a very good feel and can be completely washed and cleaned after use. and has more up-to-date features than a standard Thermapen (not MK4). The probe folds much easier than the others ,and easy to insert into a giant piece of meat. If you're shopping around for a nice thermometer, this one should be at the cart.

I love how you can set your own temperature . The only things I have found I do not like the light goes off quickly,and there is not a way to check how much battery is left. When I received the thermometer it was already charged I am assuming all the way. It has a nice box for storage and easy to clean.

Easy to clean and probe folds into the handle which reduces the risk of sticking yourself when retrieving it from the drawer.

Now I don't have to ask my wife to pop out her phone to get the finished temperature for the type of meat that I'm cooking. All the info is programmed right into this excellent device. And I was able to purchase a used unit for $9.00 !
